Police are searching for a gang that stole gold Asian jewellery worth £500,000 from a family home in south-east London.

The break-in took place on Bickley Road, Bromley, between 5:40 pm and 6:25 pm on December 30, 2024.

Detectives said the burglars entered the property through a forced bathroom window while the occupants were still inside.

CCTV footage shows three men carrying out the theft.

Two of them are seen walking across the roof of the property’s front porch with bags full of stolen jewellery, before dropping the sacks down to a third man waiting in the street.

At one point, a piece of gold spills out of one of the bags and hits the ground before being quickly picked up by the accomplice below.

The Metropolitan Police have now released images of some of the stolen items and are asking the public to come forward if they recognise any of the pieces.

Detective Constable Jamie White, from the Met’s South Area Command Unit, said:

“While the monetary value of this theft is enormous, the sentimental value is priceless, with many of the pieces being passed down through generations of the family.

“Helpfully, a number of the pieces stolen are unique, so we are hoping that releasing these photographs will jog someone’s memory.

“If you have seen these items anywhere, or know of anyone handling the goods, please do get in touch.”

No arrests have been made so far. Detectives are treating the case as part of a wider pattern of burglaries in the area.

In 2024, police warned residents on Bickley Road about a suspicious tactic used by burglars.

Officers said criminals may be placing dirt on doorsteps to see if it is cleared, which they believe helps determine whether someone is at home.

If left untouched, it could signal the occupants are away and the house may be a target.

Several burglaries have been reported in both the Bickley and Sundridge areas in recent months. Officers have not confirmed whether the current case is linked to any others.

Anyone with information or who recognises the jewellery is urged to contact the Metropolitan Police via 101 or visit the Met’s website. Anonymous reports can also be made through Crimestoppers.
