SRK launches Key Initiatives to Help India’s COVID-19 Fight

To help India’s fight against COVID-19, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has announced a series of key initiatives as his contribution to aid the nation.

Bollywood actor SRK has come forward to launch a series of strategic initiatives to help India’s fight against COVID-19. He has praised the Indian government’s efforts and is supporting the PM Cares Fund announced by prime minister Narendra Modi.

The Badshah of Bollywood has announced a package of individual donations of support which will aim to help in their own unique way.

Shah Rukh Khan announced the contributions on Twitter and detailed his approach on the best ways he and his team felt they could help the national fight against Coronavirus.

The different contributions to be made were highlighted in a tweet by his production company Red Chillies Entertainment.

SRK’s IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, the effects company redchillies.fx and the Meer Foundation are all involved in the support.

The package announced by the Bollywood superstar includes the following.

  • Kolkata Knight Riders will contribute to the PM Cares Fund
  • Red Chillies Entertainment will contribute to Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund
  • Kolkata Knight Riders and the Meer Foundation will help with the supply of 50,000 PPE kits and raise awareness for more contributions
  • Ek Saath – The Earth foundation and Meer Foundation will provide daily food requirements of over 5500 families for at least a month in Mumbai. A kitchen will send out 2000 freshly cooked meals
  • Roti Foundation in association with Meer Foundation will provide 3 lakh meal kits with 10,000 people per day for at least a month for underprivileged people and daily wage labourers in Maharashtra  
  • Working People’s Charter in association with Meer Foundation will provide basic essentials and grocery items for at least a month to over 2500 daily wage workers identified across Delhi
  • Support for acid attack survivors with the Meer Foundation to provide a monthly stipend to over 100 acid attack survivors to help take care of their basic needs across UP, Delhi, West Bengal and Uttarakhand

In his tweet making the announcement, he wrote:

“In these times it’s imp to make everyone around u working tirelessly for u.. not related to u.. perhaps even unknown to u… to feel they are not alone and by themselves. Let’s just make sure we all do our little bit to look after each other. India and all Indians are One Family.”

The Bollywood actor will be working with his team to help ensure the initiatives announced will be delivered.

In the Red Chillies tweet, it said:

Days earlier, SRK tweeted out a video requesting the nation to come together and help contain the spread of Coronavirus in the country.

He emphasises how to ensure the spread of the virus is minimised by washing your hands and keeping your face safe.
