“I think marriage is just a formality in our time."
Sonam Kapoor Ahuja candidly reveals how her marriage to Anand Ahuja was a mere formality for their loved ones.
Sonam and Anand are one of the power couples of Bollywood. They do not shy away from expressing their love for one another.
The couple has always supported each other in their respective work, appreciate their quality time and indulge in PDA (Public Display of Affection).
Sonam and Anand are always highlighting how a true relationship should be. They dated for two years before they got married in May 2018.
Yet, Sonam clarified that their choice for marriage was a formal procedure for them for the sake of their families.
According to an interview with an entertainment portal, Sonam candidly spoke about marriage as a formality. She explained:
“I think marriage is just a formality in our time. I, of course, agree that it is a commitment too.
Sonam Kapoor went on to state how they were already dedicated to one another. She said:
“But Anand Ahuja and I feel we were already committed to each other before we got married. Marriage was something we did for our friends and family.
“So, I don’t think our relationship has changed so much since the time we were dating.”
Despite being married, Sonam and Anand spend a lot of time apart. Their busy work schedules mean the pair must constantly travel.
Sonam Kapoor continued to mention how their lives have remained the same even after marriage. She mentions:
“Anand was travelling to Mumbai a lot and I was travelling to London and Delhi. And even now, he travels a lot, I travel a lot.
“But for the world, we are married and I notice that changes the way people see me.”
“I’m basically living between London, Delhi and Dubai, but I guess that’s because the world has become so much smaller, travel has become so convenient.”
On the professional front, Sonam Kapoor was last seen in The Zoya Factor (2019) alongside Dulquer Salmaan.
The film is an adaptation of Anuja Chauhan’s novel by the same name.
It follows the story of Zoya (Sonam), an advertising agent who strikes a relationship with the Indian cricket team captain Nikhil (Dulquer).
Unfortunately, The Zoya Factor failed to impress at the box office.
Despite this, we are certain Anand praised his wife’s efforts. As one of Bollywood’s most adorable couples we hope they continue to remain happy.
