Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s New Delhi residence was robbed of cash and goods worth Rs 1.41 crore.
Sonam and Anand only announced they were expecting their first child on March 21, 2022. However, this new revelation is certainly a worrying period for the couple.
The home is located in Amrita Shergill Marg, the costliest neighbourhood in Delhi.
Anand’s parents Harish and Priya along with his grandmother, Sarla, occupy the star-studded home.
It was Sarla that formally launched a complaint back in February 2022 having noticed jewellery and cash missing from her cupboards.
Upon receiving the news, the case was forwarded to more established officers due to its high-profile status.
Although, Senior Delhi Police officials kept the case under wraps whilst analysing the evidence.
Amrutha Guguloth, New Delhi DCP announced:
“We received a complaint from the family alleging that cash and jewellery were stolen from their house.”
“They noticed it on February 11 but lodged a formal police complaint on February 23. Our staff immediately registered an FIR on the same day.
“Teams have been formed, and an examination of the evidence is underway. Further investigation is in process.”
The Forensic Science Laboratories (FSL) are also involved in order to collect any form of clues from the crime scene.
Additionally, the scope has now turned towards Sonam and Anand’s staff who are being questioned as part of the investigation.
A report via ABP News claimed the police are examining 25 employees along with gardeners, caretakers and drivers.
A careful inspection of CCTV footage is also underway to determine if there are any other suspects that may have been overlooked.
Even with the extensive look into all angles, the police did confirm that no formal culprits have been identified.
However, everyone is being considered before excluding them from the crime itself.
The family have experienced a succession of crimes against them. In March 2022, Anand’s father was duped for Rs 27 crore and 10 people were arrested in the aftermath.
At the start of April 2022, Sonam shared further pictures of her precious baby bump leaving fans in awe. But this will certainly taint the festivities until the case is resolved.
Sonam Kapoor and Anand are both in Mumbai as they await the arrival of their first child.
Currently residing in Sonam’s father, Anil Kapoor’s house, the couple will want this issue resolved sooner rather than later.
