"I love roles that are challenging."
In the fascinating world of Bollywood, Siddhanth Kapoor shines as a symbol of talent.
Siddhanth is the son of the legendary icon Shakti Kapoor and the older brother of the renowned actress Shraddha Kapoor.
However, Siddhanth Kapoor is an accomplished achiever in his own right.
He started his career as an assistant director in films by Priyadarshan. These include Chup Chup Ke (2006) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007).
Siddhanth Kapoor made his acting debut with Shootout at Wadala (2013), where he played Gyancho.
In July 2024, Siddhanth starred in Aditya Awandhe’s crime thriller, The Heist.
His performance as Viren Shah is edgy, charismatic, and cool.
In our exclusive chat, he sheds light on his promising career.
Sit back and get up close and personal with Siddhanth Kapoor with DESIblitz.
What films have you enjoyed working in and why?
The Heist was a very nice experience. I was working with good people and new guys.
Chalte Rahe Zindagi is a very special film to me where I played Krishna Bhagat, the bread supplier.
It was very different to my other characters.
The experience was amazing with Aarti [S Bagdi], the director and the whole team.
They did a fantastic job.
How did your experiences as an assistant director on films like Chupke Chupke and Bhool Bhulaiyaa shape your career aspirations?
My experience as an assistant director with Mr Priyadarshan was spectacular. I learnt a lot on set.
Also, it was amazing because, on Bhool Bhulaiyaa, I was one of the chief ADs and the only Hindi-speaking assistant director.
So, it was crazy working with 18 or 19 actors.
I didn’t have to learn anything from him as such – it just came in. Whatever was just in the house.
Which genres of film do you feel suit you the best?
I like realistic films with a good message. That’s the genre I really like.
I like comedy and gangster flicks. I also like slice-of-life and feel-good films.
How do you select scripts and characters? Can you tell us about your decision-making process?
It has to feel right. It has to be challenging as I love roles that are challenging.
They have to have a good set-up and a good message and some kinds of turns and twists.
I also want to explore more comedy.
I’ve worked in so many films and every film has been amazing.
Have you ever thought about going into production and direction as well?
Writing yes, direction yes, but not production.
I would definitely not do that.
I don’t think anything needs to change in the film industry but there needs to be more honesty.
What do you think about how your sister Shraddha Kapoor is doing in her career? What advice would you give her, if any?
I don’t think I need to give my sister any advice. She’s already a superstar.
I do give her life advice sometimes though.
Which actors and filmmakers have inspired you?
Ranbir Kapoor really inspires me because of the kind of work he has done and the performances he has given.
He is one of my favourite actors.
I am really fond of Vikramaditya Motwane, Anurag Kashyap, Shoojit Sircar Ji, Sriram Raghavan, the list goes on.
What advice would you give to budding actors who want to enter the Indian movie industry?
I would advise them to keep patient and never be emotional about rejection.
Rejection makes you stronger.
Can you tell us anything about your future work?
I have got three to four more projects coming up including a Yash Raj film and some other amazing films.
Siddhanth Kapoor has undeniably carved a place for himself in the Indian movie industry.
He is an excellent entertainer and a skilled actor.
In the years spanning his career, he has charmed the audience with his performances.
He is also a credit to his family name and Bollywood.
In another interview from 2021, Siddhanth described his journey in the film industry.
He said: “My journey has been nice, not a very hectic one.
“I am very content and happy with my journey although I am not someone who constantly says, ‘I don’t want to do this or do that’.”
It’s all upwards for Siddhanth Kapoor from here!
