"so nice try, get over yourselves"

Shruti Haasan has hit back at reports that she missed the pre-release event of her film Waltair Veerayya due to mental health struggles.

The actress is currently juggling the releases of Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya.

However, when she did not attend an event for her film, rumours about the possible reason why began circulating.

A number of media outlets claimed Shruti was struggling with her mental health and was undergoing treatment.

The actress has now reacted to the reports and hit back, slamming the “misinformation”.

On Twitter, Shruti shared a picture of the media reports. She also posted a statement which read:

“Ok so here’s the thing, misinformation like this and the over-dramatisation or flippant handling of such subjects is what makes people afraid to talk about mental health… Guess what? It doesn’t work.

“I will always be a mental health advocate I will always promote taking care of myself in all aspects.

“Oh and… I had a viral fever so nice try, get over yourselves and while you are at it please talk to a therapist. No really, please do.”

Shruti also captioned her Twitter post:

“Nice try!! And thank you, I’m recovering well from my viral fever.”

She later shared a picture of herself in bed, writing:

“Thank you for all the love yesterday still so sad I couldn’t make it for the grand launch… rest and recovery mode on and lost of rasam.”

On the work front, Waltair Veerayya is touted to be a mass-action entertainer.

Starring Chiranjeevi as the titular character, Shruti Haasan plays RAW Agent Athidhi.

The film tells the story of a notorious fisherman in Jalaripeta involved in smuggling activities who is in need of money to fight a court case.

He is then enlisted to help the authorities find notorious smuggler Solomon Caesar, who is on the run.

Waltair Veerayya was released on January 13, 2023, in both Telugu and Hindi.

Her other film, Veera Simha Reddy, was released on January 12.

In addition to the two films, Shruti Haasan also has The Eye releasing later in 2023.

She is also a part of Prabhas’ next film Salaar. The film marks her first collaboration with Prabhas. Tipped to be an action saga, the film features Prabhas as the titular character.
