"they don’t understand that for them it’s a number"
Shruti Haasan has reflected on her past relationships, admitting they have taught her some of her biggest life lessons.
The actress said: “When I go, I go all in, when I leave, I run away.
“We all have that one ‘dangerous ex’ but apart from that, I really close the chapter with no regrets.”
Shruti, who has always been open about her personal life, addressed how people often judge her for her breakups.
She explained: “When people say, ‘Which number of boyfriend is this?’, they don’t understand that for them it’s a number, for me it is the number of times that I have failed at having the love I want.
“I don’t blame my partners because we aren’t wired to change the same way at the same time, it isn’t possible.
“So, I don’t feel bad about it…but I feel a little bad. Of course, I’m human.”
Shruti emphasised that her private relationships have never been affected by her success in the entertainment industry.
When asked if her partners felt intimidated by her fame, she said:
“No, I don’t think so. That’s not what I am in my private life.”
Shruti Haasan also admitted to having no regrets about the relationships themselves, but expressed sadness over hurting people she cared about.
She said: “I have hurt some people and I wish I didn’t do that.
“Everything else, I have like zero regrets. I’m like, okay, I was a clown, it’s fine.
“Just some people that were very valuable to me, I hurt them by mistake and I always now spend my time saying sorry for it.”
When it comes to her dating life, Shruti Haasan dated London-based actor Michael Corsale before their split in 2019.
She then began a relationship with visual artist Santanu Hazarika in 2020, but they parted ways in 2024.
Speaking about her parents’ divorce, Shruti admitted that it affected her, but it also humbled her.
She said:
“I was very humbled by my parents’ separation.”
“When we moved from Chennai to Mumbai, it wasn’t like we moved from a mansion to another mansion. It wasn’t really comfortable in Mumbai.
“But I am glad these lessons happened.
“From travelling everywhere in a Mercedes to taking the local train was an abrupt changeover, and I realised how we can learn from both these journeys.”
