“I was too busy with my own work"

Shilpa Shetty has told the police that she wasn’t aware of what Raj Kundra was up to.

It comes as the Bollywood star’s husband was arrested for allegedly creating and distributing pornographic material via mobile apps on Monday, July 19, 2021.

The businessman was one of eleven people who have been accused in the ongoing pornography case. This also includes the IT head of his company Viaan Industries, Ryan Thorpe.

According to Mumbai Police, the business’ offices were used as a base for organising the content, which was originally streamed on the mobile app ‘Hotshots.’

However, when this was removed from both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, they instead switched to one called ‘Bollyfame,’ which they had been using ever since.

It is thought that authorities have retrieved WhatsApp messages, emails and pornography evidence. Four of Kundra’s employees have also now turned against him.

Yet, according to a 1,467 page charge sheet filed before a Mumbai court, Shetty was unaware of her husband’s activities.

“Raj Kundra started Viaan Industries Limited in 2015 and I was one of the directors till 2020 when I resigned due to personal reasons.

“I am not aware about the Hotshots or Bollyfame apps.”

“I was too busy with my own work and hence, not aware about what Raj Kundra was up to.“

Indian police believe that a fake company set up byRaj Kundra and his brother-in-law was registered in the UK to avoid India’s tough cyber-laws.

It comes as Shetty went on a pilgrimage to the Hindu Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, Jammu on Wednesday, September 17, 2021. She was seen undertaking the journey on a horse while surrounded by security personnel.

Shetty says she had a divine calling:

“It was due to the goddesses’ call that I came all the way to pay obeisance to her.”

The actress last appeared in Hindi rom-com Hungama 2 (2021), which was released on Friday, July 23, 2021, and also starred Paresh Rawal, Meezaan Jaffrey and Pranitha Subhash.

Shilpa Shetty is currently judging reality show, Super Dancer 4, alongside choreographer Geeta Kapur and director Anurag Basu. She had taken some time off shortly after her husband’s arrest.

The couple got married in 2009 after meeting each other through a mutual friend while Kundra was still married to his first wife, Kavita.

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra now have two children together.
