On Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Sharmila Faruqui spoke about various topics, including the controversy surrounding Nadia Khan during Saboor Aly’s wedding.
During the wedding ceremony, Nadia began vlogging and seemingly mocked Sharmila’s mother Anisa by asking her questions about her makeup skills.
After the video was shared, it was reported that Sharmila privately approached her and requested for the video to be taken down for the sake of her mother’s mental health, to which Nadia refused.
Following her refusal to delete the video, Sharmila decided to involve the FIA (Federal Investigation Agency).
Sharmila has now spoken to Ahmed about the incident and has shared her side of the story.
The conversation began when Ahmed said he had seen the controversial video, questioning Nadia’s intentions.
He said although he distances himself from such controversies, he followed the reactions of people on social media and felt that people often take advantage of a situation.
Ahmed asked Sharmila how she handled the situation and if she had personally spoken to Nadia.
Sharmila replied: “Yes, I did.
“I don’t know her personally and I don’t have her number so I sent her a message on Instagram and said I did not like the video of her talking about my mother’s makeup and clothes so can you delete it?
“I still have that message on Instagram, although she has blocked me I still have that message.
“She replied and said there was nothing wrong in that and that she would not remove the video.
“A few other pages also shared the video but when I messaged them to delete the video they apologised to me and deleted the video.
“If Nadia had done the same then that would have been the end of the matter. I do not like arguing.”
Sharmila went on to say that when Nadia told her she did not care what she did about it, that’s when she decided to take the matter further.
She continued: “It got ugly because of her adamance.
“Look, if you upload a picture of me and I don’t like it, I will ask you to delete the picture. Nadia did not tell my mother she would be uploading the video.
“I said my mother did not consent so please take the video down. Nadia said no.”
“She is my mother, she had just lost her husband. She was trying to regain her life and I didn’t think that she deserved that.”
The case was closed after Nadia was cleared of defamation.
In a statement, the FIA’s Cybercrime Head Imran Riaz said:
“I would like to discuss the case filed by PPP MPA Sharmila Faruqui against the actress Nadia Khan, claiming that she [Nadia] tried to defame the former’s mother.
“We did not find any such content that proves that Nadia filmed the video with deliberate intentions to disrepute Anisa.”
