“I have an answer for all of them who are speaking against it."

Renowned Pakistani actress Saba Qamar has condemned celebrities for criticising the airing of the popular Turkish drama, Dirilis: Ertugrul (2014-2019) in Pakistan.

Billed as the Turkish Games of Thrones (2011-2019), Ertugrul (2014-2019) gained worldwide popularity. In fact, it has been dubbed in several languages which has increased its popularity.

The hit drama series has been received a lot of love from Pakistan. However, it also started a debate on social media.

While some people applauded Prime Minister Imran Khan’s decision to showcase the series during the lockdown as an effecting plan to keep citizens at home, others did not.

Some Pakistani stars condemned airing Ertugrul (2014-2019) in the nation as it is a “threat to local culture.”

They also argued that people should support local Pakistani artists and their own content.

Recently, Saba Qamar slammed actors who have spoken against airing Ertugrul (2014-2019) in Pakistan. In a live session, Saba said:

“If you are talking about PTV that is not earning much. These same actors who are speaking against Ertugrul are those same actors who never attend a call from PTV.

“These actors have not done anything and they never offered PTV anything for free, so that PTV can raise its bar.

“But now, if Imran Khan has done something good and the rating of PTV is raising more than private channels, now people have a problem with this.”

Saba Qamar added:

“Where were you when PTV was nothing? You could have offered your free acting service to PTV and helped them in running content.

“Everyone knows how to criticise but nobody is thinking about growth. We all are stuck.

“Nobody calls and appreciate when you do something good but as soon as one mishap happens people start calling you out.”

Saba continued to question what they have done to help PTV. She said:

“I have an answer for all of them who are speaking against it. Have you done something for PTV?

“You are saying that we will die due to this but they don’t know that we all are already dying.”

Saba Qamar further added that people should stop criticising others and focus on generating quality content. She added:

“I support the airing of Ertugrul (2014-2019) on PTV because it is helping us to generate money and it is not harming us in any way. We are losing nothing.”
