Radhika Apte says She Doesn’t Believe in Marriage

Indian actress Radhika Apte has revealed that she does not believe in the institution of marriage despite being married to British musician, Benedict Taylor.

The actress tied the knot to the musician in 2012 and revealed why she decided to do so despite her beliefs.

During an interaction with fellow actor Vikrant Massey, the pair was answering “other” questions which they would not be usually asked in interviews.

The actress disclosed that the reason behind her marriage was so she could attain a visa.

Radhika Apte was asked, ‘When did Radhika Apte get married?’ in response, she said:

“Well, when I realised that it is easier to get a visa when you are married. I think there should be no boundaries.

“I am not a big marriage person, I don’t believe in the institution. I got married because the visa was really a big problem and we wanted to live together. I think that’s not fair.”

Radhika is currently living with Benedict in London. The couple has been living there for the entire duration of the coronavirus lockdown.

According to an interview with Hindustan Times, she explained what her routine consists of during the lockdown. She said:

“Just to have a routine was a normal thing. But, in this period, I ate well, exercised, tried to write and watch, and did nothing, without any pressure of having to be at any place.

“All these have been really good things. But there have been too many bad things, too.”

Speaking about returning to normal and the possibility of a potential vaccine, Radhika Apte said:

“I don’t like these terms ‘new normal’. It’s there until the time we find a vaccine to tackle the issue.

“We’ll go back to normal, I believe. Once we go back there, we’ll forget all about this.”

On the work front, the actress was last seen in the crime thriller drama, Raat Akeli Hai (2020) opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

The Netflix show, which released in July 2020, marked the directorial debut of casting director Honey Trehan.

The murder mystery drama was well received with critics and audiences alike.

Radhika Apte has starred in an array of films. These include Andhadun (2018), PadMan (2018), Parched (2015), Kabali (2016), Lust Stories (2018), Phobia (2016) and many more.

Previously, the actress revealed that she has received audition calls for Hollywood blockbusters, James Bond and Star Wars.
