"He was one of the coolest and most relaxed people on set."

Sanjay Bairagi, the supervising producer of popular Indian Television serial Ishqbaaz, took his own life in Mumbai on Friday 2nd March 2018.

Sanjay jumped off the 16th floor of a building in Malad West’s Silicon Park, confirmed Mumbai police. Earlier, reports suggested that Bairagi had lost balance after a cardiac arrest. However, further investigations have revealed that he took his own life.

In a note left by Sanjay, the TV supervising producer explained that he was experiencing “financial troubles”.

As per a report in DNA, Bairagi wrote in the note: “It’s my fault. My family is suffering and I have financial troubles. No one should be held responsible.”

According to police reports, Sanjay had been playing Holi with his family and friends earlier in the day:

“Bairagi’s family and friends said he even uploaded pictures with loved ones on social media. He was having domestic issues with his wife and was facing a financial crunch,” said police.

The news has reportedly come as a shock to many who saw him smiling and having a good time while celebrating the popular religious festival.

Sanjay’s funeral was held on Sunday 4th March and the entire team of the Ishqbaaz TV show was present to pay their last respects.

Speaking about the shocking incident, Gul Khan, the producer of Ishqbaaz, told an online portal:

“Sanjay was an efficient worker and was controlling the entire production work. He wasn’t directly reporting to me hence I wouldn’t know the cause of death. We [the team] went to the funeral yesterday and have still not recovered from what we saw.”

The show’s lead actor, Nakuul Mehta also expressed grief saying: “He was one of the coolest and most relaxed people on set, always creatively involving himself in various departments of Ishqbaaaz.”

While Mehta’s co-star, Surbhi Chandna, is yet to give a comment on the loss of the dear producer, a fan club of the actress took to Twitter to share a rare picture from the sets of the serial.
