Indian actress Priyanka Chopra, 35, made a surprise visit to Mumbai to introduce her rumoured love interest and 25-year-old American pop star Nick Jonas to her mother, Madhu Chopra.
When the couple arrived in Mumbai the media was sent into a frenzy. After landing at the airport on Thursday 21st June, Chopra headed straight to her Juhu house.
On Friday 22nd, the couple were seen stepping out together for dinner in Bandra, the suburbs of Mumbai where they later met with the Quantico star’s family members who arrived separately.
With rumours of marriage between the two stars making their way through Bollywood, it is thought that Priyanka wanted her boyfriend to meet her mother.
After Chopra headed out to dinner to meet her family members, Nick reportedly joined them for the meal.
Now we know that Madhu and Nick met at the family meal in India, we were eager to find out exactly what Madhu thought about Priyanka’s rumoured boyfriend.
PeeCee’s mother, Madhu Chopra was contacted regarding the event and asked for her opinion.
Madhu said:
“We just went out for dinner where Nick was present. But it was a large group. There were 10-odd people, so I didn’t get the time to know him that well.”
After being encouraged to give her opinion on the superstar Nick, she still kept her cards close to her chest. She said:
“I’ve met him for the first time, so it’s too early to form an opinion.”
Whilst initially many people doubted the legitimacy of the rumoured romance between the two, the couple seems to be inseparable since they met at the 2017 Met Gala.
They have been spotted out together on multiple occasions which have set tongues wagging. This includes when they spent Memorial Day weekend together, as well as when they attended the wedding of Nick Jonas’ cousin.
Dating rumours were then magnified when they were seen out on a dinner date in New York City after the party.
Another insider previously told People publication about Priyanka meeting Nick’s family at the wedding. They said:
“It’s a huge deal that Nick brought Priyanka to his cousin’s wedding. He’s dated a lot over the last couple years but it’s never been anything serious, so this is a big step.
“Nick and Priyanka really like each other, and his family enjoyed getting to know her as well. She fit right in!”
Naturally, once it was revealed that Priyanka had attended Nick’s family wedding, rumours that the two were looking to get engaged or married became rife.
The couple added fuel to the fire when they were seen on vacation together. They were spotted alongside Priyanka’s family and friends in Goa.
Pictures of Priyanka and her family and friends, as well as Nick, surfaced on fan pages of the actress. The image showed them all happily tucking into a feast of food.
Priyanka Chopra’s cousin, Parineeti, shared a playful video on Instagram of herself and her sister. The two stars showed off as they danced in the rain, singing the Bollywood rain dance number, ‘Tip Tip Barsa Paani’.
Parineeti captioned the video with:
“Not a cheesy Chopra sister performance. Nope. #DancingInTheRain.”
Madhu Chopra is not revealing much about her meeting with Nick. It seems only time will tell if she approves of her daughter’s choice of romantic partner.
However, it’s clear that the two stars are eager to introduce each other to their family members. This is no doubt a positive sign of their blossoming relationship.
Whilst fans are going mad over whether or not the couple will be hearing wedding bells in the near future, one thing is for sure. This romance shows no signs of dwindling out anytime soon.
