Former Premier League defender Titus Bramble has joined Pakistan’s men’s senior national team as assistant coach.
The Pakistan Football Federation confirmed the appointment on Instagram on September 15, with Bramble joining the coaching staff ahead of the FIFA ASEAN Cup.
The federation said: “From Premier League battles to the Pakistan touchline.
“Former Premier League defender Titus Bramble, who made over 200 Premier League appearances during an accomplished playing career, begins a new chapter with the Pakistan Men’s Senior National Team as Assistant Coach.
“Bringing valuable experience from the highest level of English football, Bramble joins the national setup at a crucial time as Pakistan looks ahead to the FIFA ASEAN Cup and the challenges that lie ahead.
“A new chapter. A new vision. One team. One dream.
“Welcome to Pakistan, Coach Titus Bramble!”
A cult hero, Titus Bramble played in the Premier League between 2000 and 2013 after beginning his professional career with his hometown club Ipswich Town.
He later joined Newcastle United, making 156 appearances in all competitions across five seasons before moving to Wigan Athletic.
The defender subsequently played for Sunderland before ending his Premier League career in 2013.
Bramble returned to football four years later with Stowmarket Town, where he took on a player-coach role while playing in the lower levels of the English football pyramid.
He eventually retired from professional football in 2018.
Bramble also represented England at Under-21 level, making 10 appearances, but never played for the senior Three Lions side.
His coaching career has included time with the Ipswich academy, while he has also worked in Dubai.
Bramble’s move to Pakistan is not out of the blue as he reunites with former Newcastle teammate Nolberto Solano, who is the national team’s head coach.
The pair played 83 matches together between 2002 and 2007.
Pakistan are now preparing for the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup, which takes place from September 24 to October 5 in Indonesia and Hong Kong.
Pakistan will compete in Division 1 alongside Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and fellow guest nation Bangladesh.
The tournament will be Pakistan’s next major test under Solano, with Bramble now joining his former Newcastle colleague as part of the coaching setup.
