Police have arrested a Pakistani youth after he set five family members on fire. This included his parents.

The shocking incident happened at the family home in the Muhammadpura area of Sialkot. While officers arrested the man in May 2020, he actually carried out the crime on the night of April 21.

Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) Capt (Retd) Mustansar Feroz explained that 25-year-old Ali Hamza was angered by his family.

They had rowed with him over his bad habits and addictions.

It is believed Hamza was addicted to drugs, however, police have not yet confirmed what Hamza was addicted to.

Following his arrest, Hamza admitted killing his family members.

He told police that he burned his family alive by pouring kerosene on them while they were sleeping and setting them alight.

The case took longer to come to a conclusion due to the fact that officers were initially misled by Hamza.

The Pakistani youth claimed his family were killed in a house fire which was caused by a burning coil which was kept in an earthen pot in order to get rid of mosquitoes.

His father Muhammad Ashraf and mother Yasmeen Bibi were killed instantly.

Meanwhile, his sisters Sobia and Fauzia and brother Haider suffered severe burns and were rushed to Mayo Hospital in Lahore.

The three siblings died in hospital a few days later.

Hamza’s other sister Harram Shehzadi and brother Ali Raza were also injured and are currently fighting for their lives.

DPO Feroz revealed that a case was registered against Hamza following a complaint from his uncle Muhammad Akram.

In an equally shocking case which happened in India, a woman killed four family members before taking her own life.

Divya Pachauri murdered her father-in-law, sister and son by lacing their food with a poisonous substance. She smothered her other son to death.

Afterwards, Divya took her own life by slashing her wrists.

Police responded to a report and made their way into the house where they found the bodies of Rajeshwar Pachauri, aged 65, Divya, her sister Bulbul, aged 25, and her sons Aarush and Chhotu.

The police initially suspected that it was suicide but SSP Sunil Kumar Singh revealed that the bodies were found lying separately. He also said that foam and blood were seen coming out of the children’s mouths.

Injury marks were also found around Bulbul’s neck.

An empty bottle of toilet bleach, sulfas tablets and razor blades were recovered.

SSP Singh stated that the post-mortem report revealed that three of the victims were poisoned while another was smothered.

It also confirmed that Divya slashed her wrists.

According to SSP Singh, Divya had not eaten for a couple of days due to a domestic dispute as well as feeling depressed
