"When a salon gets famous, you will be treated badly"
Some Pakistani salons have recently come under fire for supposedly showing favouritism towards influencers.
This has sparked worries about the fairness and equality of their services for all their customers.
The conflict arose when it was alleged that Islamabad-based Faiza’s Salon was giving special privileges to influencers.
This included priority bookings, free refreshments and unrestricted access to certain services, while other customers were being ignored or treated unfairly.
This caused a wave of anger and criticism from the public, who believed that this preferential treatment was unjust.
Many argued that it went against the principles of fairness and equality which should be upheld in any business.
As the news of these allegations spread, customers who had previously been loyal to such establishments started reconsidering their support.
Social media platforms were flooded with posts and comments expressing disappointment and frustration.
One user said: “This is a common pattern in Islamabad. When a salon gets famous, you will be treated badly, irrespective of you paying them.”
Another wrote: “Totally! Whoever is an influencer gets extravagant treatment in exchange for petty followers.”
One commented: “So true. Their work is not as good as the influencers hyped it up to be.”
Another said: “100% agree. They only treat influencers well.”
A customer also shared images expressing her dissatisfaction with one salon’s refusal to provide an outward blow-dry after getting her hair dyed.
To make matters worse, the quality of the dyeing services was subpar.
The customer revealed: “I still have some of that dye on my forehead. I’ve tried everything but it won’t come off!”
Another client claimed that an influencer’s presence caused her to endure long waiting hours.
She commented: “An influencer showed up and the staff got busy giving her sandwiches and snacks.
“We got done in 6 hours that day because of the wait and distraction caused by the influencer whereas she arrived later and left before us.”

Another said:
“They treat normal customers like GARBAGE!”
The controversy also highlighted the power dynamics within the influencer industry.
Critics claimed that influencers were being granted exclusive benefits due to their large following.
This was done because of their ability to generate publicity for Pakistani salons.
The allegations have also raised concerns about the credibility of influencer marketing. There were questions as to whether it is truly based on merit or is simply a transactional relationship.
