"My wife is Russian so you will say these nonsensical things?"
Indian YouTuber Mithilesh Backpacker shared a shocking experience where a group of men harassed his Russian wife during a vlog in Rajasthan’s Udaipur.
In the video, he said a group of men followed his wife Lisa and their two-year-old son.
Mithilesh, who has over one million YouTube subscribers, had been filming the vlog when a man made a comment towards his wife to imply she was a prostitute.
The YouTuber turned his camera to the harasser and threatened to call the police even as the man continued to deny that his remark was directed towards the woman.
Mithilesh asked: “Don’t I understand whom you are saying 6,000 to?
“My wife is Russian so you will say these nonsensical things?”
In the video, Mithilesh said a group of men had been following him and his family for a while.
He also claimed that the City Palace security urged him not to call the police and forget about the matter instead of helping him.
Mithilesh criticised India’s poor security when it comes to protecting women as well as people’s attitudes in the country.
He said: “I was so angry. I was with my wife.
“How can people behave in this manner? It was very shocking and very shameful for me.
“My wife came to India… I wanted to promote Indian tourism, that India is so beautiful, so safe. And when something like this happens, what do I do?”
The vlog went viral and sparked outrage among viewers, with many telling the YouTuber to file a police complaint.
One commented: “Definitely you should file a police complaint, such things should not be taken lightly, it is deep-rooted in young Indian minds, and should be punished.”
Another wrote: “Shame on us Shame on India. We just stand, watch and film without helping others. We are a failed society with inhumanity.
“Not only this case but there are so many similar cases rising.”

One person said crude remarks are made by teenagers in India all the time:
“As a teenager, I have seen this behaviour among people of my age, and they make these kinds of jokes and the worst part is they laugh it off.
“I have tried to stop them, but they stop for a while and start again. It is very shameful for us. I can’t even defend my own country anymore.”
