"I just don't understand why they aren't taking action"

The tragic road accident at Malir Halt in Karachi has shocked the nation, leaving many in mourning, including several prominent Pakistani celebrities.

The lives of 24-year-old Abdul Qayyum and his 19-year-old wife, Zainab, were tragically cut short in a fatal collision with a water tanker.

The young couple, who were expecting their first child, had just attended a routine check-up.

They were heading home on their motorcycle when the accident occurred, killing them instantly.

Zainab tragically gave birth following the crash, but the infant did not survive due to a lack of urgent care.

This heart-wrenching incident has sparked widespread outrage over the growing issue of speeding by heavy-duty vehicles.

Police reports confirmed the accident, and the public has been demanding immediate action to address these dangers.

On social media, one person questioned: “I just don’t understand why they aren’t taking action after so many dumper accidents.”

The news has deeply affected the Pakistani entertainment industry, with stars expressing their grief and condemning the reckless behaviour of truck drivers.

Among those speaking out was Javeria Saud, the host of Pyara Ramazan.

She expressed her emotional shock over the loss, crying during the live discussion about the accident.

Javeria felt it was her responsibility to address such a tragic event on her show.

Danish Taimoor and Rabia Anam, the hosts of Mahfil-e-Ramazan, also voiced their concerns about road safety.

Rabia Anam narrated the incident with sorrow, while Danish shared his deep concerns about the dangers posed by truck drivers who speed indiscriminately.

Waseem Badami, the host of Shaan-e-Ramazan, condemned the authorities for not taking stronger action against reckless truck and dumper drivers.

Waseem emphasised that simply talking about reforms was not enough.

He suggested that punishing careless drivers would help deter others from violating the law.

Syed Zafar Abbas also spoke out, expressing his heartfelt sympathy for the couple and their lost child.

Syed personally visited Zainab’s family to offer his condolences and made a video urging authorities to take the matter seriously.

He also appeared on Javeria Saud’s show, visibly shocked by the Malir Halt incident.

Social media users have been quick to react, condemning the government’s inaction and demanding that measures be taken to prevent further accidents.

Many have proposed the creation of dedicated lanes for trucks and other large vehicles to reduce the risks.
