Ikram's motive was reportedly linked to disagreements

A young bride named Ayesha was shot and killed by her brother-in-law, Ikram, in Lahore, on her wedding day.

The shocking event occurred on the morning of April 4, 2025, in Manga Mandi, a town located about 38 kilometres southwest of Lahore.

Ayesha was set to marry Ikram’s brother Falak Sher later that day.

According to police officials, Ikram entered Ayesha’s room and opened fire, fatally wounding her.

After the shooting, he reportedly called Rescue 15 to report the incident before fleeing the scene.

Authorities quickly moved to apprehend him, and he was arrested in the Sundar area not long after the crime.

Investigations revealed that the shooting stemmed from a familial dispute.

Ikram’s motive was reportedly linked to disagreements regarding Ayesha’s marriage arrangements.

Relatives said Ayesha had gone to her room to rest after the festivities, only to be met with this unimaginable violence.

The wedding procession was scheduled to arrive at 1 pm.

Following the incident, police and forensic teams began gathering evidence from the crime scene.

They discovered that Ikram had discarded the murder weapon in an empty plot next to the house.

Authorities emphasised their commitment to thoroughly investigating the case from multiple angles to ensure justice for Ayesha and her family.

In response to this tragic shooting, Inspector Pasha Imran, leading the investigation at Sundar Police Station, oversaw the arrest operation with his team.

DIG Raza confirmed that strong evidence had been gathered, and a charge sheet would be submitted to ensure Ikram faces appropriate legal consequences.

He praised the swift and coordinated efforts of the investigative team, emphasising the importance of thorough investigations in such cases.

SSP Investigation Muhammad Naveed announced that commendation certificates would be awarded to the officers involved in the operation.

The statement read:

“The police and forensic team collected evidence and launched an investigation.”

“After the police and investigative agencies completed their work, the body was shifted to the morgue by an Edhi ambulance.”

This tragic shooting comes amid a series of violent incidents in Punjab.

Just the day before, two separate acts of violence had left two people dead in the province.

One involved a father allegedly killed by his son following a verbal altercation.

Meanwhile, another incident saw a woman shot dead by unknown assailants in Lahore’s Sundar area.
