“The hypocrisy level is high."

The Bollywood remake of a Pakistani song for an upcoming war movie is facing backlash.

Noor Jehan’s song ‘Zaalima Coca Cola’ is being used in Ajay Devgn’s upcoming movie Bhuj: The Pride of India, starring Sanjay Dutt and Nora Fatehi.

However, Bollywood’s recreation of the song, sung by Shreya Ghoshal, has angered Pakistanis.

Netizens are slamming Bollywood for recreating the much-loved song for a film that portrays Pakistan in a negative light.

Bhuj: The Pride of India tells of the events that occurred during the 1971 war between India and Pakistan.

It is due to release in August 2021.

Now, Pakistanis are angry after learning that Indian filmmakers are not only portraying Pakistan negatively but also borrowing songs from Pakistani legends.

Nora Fatehi plays an Indian spy in the film, who is sent to Pakistan to gather information.

Fatehi shared the song on Twitter on Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

Her tweet reads: “Song is out, go check it out right now #ZaalimaCocaCola.”

In India, ‘Zaalima Coca Cola’ is branded the “party song of the year”. However, Pakistani netizens are less than pleased.

One Twitter user said:

“Bollywood recreated a version of this Pakistani song, ‘Zaalima Coca Cola pila day’ in an upcoming propaganda movie and the enemy is of course Pakistan.

“P.S. this version of Zaalima Coca Cola pila day is EXTREMELY BAD!”

Another wrote:

“The Bollywood version of ‘Zaalima Coca Cola’ is disgraceful.”

A third said: “They literally butchered one of my favourite Pakistani songs.”

Other users called out the irony of Bollywood stealing a Pakistani song for an anti-Pakistan film.

One Twitter user said:

“The song is in #BhujThePrideOfIndia, an anti-Pakistan film and yet, they’ve stolen #ZaalimaCocaCola, which is a PAKISTANI SONG.

“The hypocrisy level is high.

“I don’t play these India vs Pakistan games but there’s something very much unethical here.”

A second user said:

“#ZaalimaCocaCola is the remake of Legendary Pakistani Singer #NoorJehan’s song.

“Bollywood relies solely on Pakistani music.

“And now they have started stealing our music with such a confidence that they play them in Anti-Pakistan movies.

“WOW. Zaalima songs churana chhor dy”

Another user quickly pointed out that this is not the first time Bollywood has stolen a Pakistani song.

The netizen said:

“Bollywood has a history of stealing Pakistani songs, whether they are songs of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan or Madam Noor Jahan or any other Pakistani singer.”

Bhuj: The Pride of India is due for release on August 13, 2021.
