Yo Yo Honey Singh faces accusations of domestic violence from his wife Shalini Talwar.

She filed a case against the rapper under the Protection of Women from Domestic of Women Act in Delhi’s Tis Hazari Act.

The court has issued a notice to Honey Singh and he has until August 28, 2021, to file his response.

In Shalini’s petition, she claimed that she was “subjected to numerous incidents of physical abuse, verbal, mental abuse and emotional abuse” at the hands of her husband, his parents and his sister.

She alleged that differences between the couple started soon after their honeymoon.

Honey Singh started acting distant with her and when she confronted him about it, he allegedly hit her.

The couple got married on January 23, 2011, and had celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary.

Shalini claimed that her husband used to receive cash payments but she was not made aware.

She also alleged that when he began earning Rs. 4 Crore (£387,000) a month from performances and royalties, he became addicted to alcohol and drugs.

In her complaint, Shalini said that Honey Singh would have “casual sex with multiple women” and would not take her on tour.

When she found out about his affair with a Punjabi actress, he stated that he would end the affair and promise to stay loyal to her.

Honey Singh had begun getting bouts of paranoia as well as suffering blackouts.

Shalini also detailed her husband’s Slam Tour when he refused to go on stage.

She said that at the time, he suffered anxiety attacks and whilst in his hotel room, she tried to calm him down.

Shalini told him to rest and then go on stage as it was his professional commitment.

However, she claimed that he hit and verbally abused her.

Yo Yo Honey Singh previously opened up about his battle with alcoholism and bipolar disorder.

In 2016, while explaining his 18-month absence, Honey Singh said:

“I was suffering from bipolar disorder.

“It went on for 18 months, during which I changed four doctors, the medication wasn’t working on me and crazy things were happening.”

For years, Honey’s fans did not know he was married.

He first introduced Shalini to the public in 2014 during an episode of India’s Raw Star.

Yo Yo Honey Singh has not released a statement, however, “the court has also passed interim orders in favour of Shalini Talwar, restraining Honey Singh from disposing off his jointly owned property etc”.
