“This is her maiden visit and she’s loving it."
Veteran Bollywood actress Mumtaz is currently on holiday in Karachi and she was spotted with Pakistani actor Ahsan Khan.
For her trip, Mumtaz has been accompanied by renowned scriptwriter Moin Baig.
Speaking about the actress, Ahsan said:
“Mumtaz is a very close friend, we often speak.
“She has never been to Pakistan and we had spoken about her visiting the country.
“This is her maiden visit and she’s loving it. She praised me for my latest drama, Sukoon.
“It is such a feat for me to be praised by an actor as big as Mumtaz.
“You know, it’s so surreal that she spoke to me when the first episode of Sukoon came out.
“She has always been a fan of Pakistani dramas and a while ago, she inquired if I was working on a project.
“I told her about Sukoon and after she saw the first episode, she told me that it would be a very well-received project.
“I asked her how she knew and she said ‘I have enough experience to understand what might work and what won’t. This will work.”
In a video, Mumtaz praised Ahsan for his work in his latest drama and said:
“I have seen several other plays. But this particular show blew me away.
“The way it has been picturised, the cameraman is good, your performance is too good.”
Ahsan shared details of Mumtaz’s trip and revealed that she would also be visiting Islamabad and Lahore and plans to meet up with her friends whilst there.
Ahsan said that in his opinion, Mumtaz’s presence in Pakistan needed to be celebrated.
“I think it is great that such a huge name across the border came to Pakistan and has been given the respect she so rightly deserved.
“Mumtaz is second to none and I believe her being in our country is a symbol of harmony if nothing else.”
“As artists, we should welcome each other. We are all good friends and Mumtaz and I have been in contact for a long time.
“I am ecstatic that she’s in Pakistan. I am sure she’d find our hospitality charming.”
Mumtaz took a break from the showbiz industry a couple of years ago, but recently it was rumoured that she would make a comeback in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi.
However, the news has not been confirmed.
