"Rhea has seriously compromised my name."
Indian film director Mukesh Chhabra has asserted that Rhea Chakraborty is falsely naming him in the drug case concerning Sushant Singh Rajput’s death investigation.
Rhea was arrested on 8 September 2020 by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) under various sections of the NDPS Act.
The actress’ bail plea was also rejected and it appears she has made some shocking revelations.
During her probe, she named 25 members from the film fraternity who she claims are involved in drugs.
Now, Mukesh Chhabra who was also named has reacted to Rhea’s allegations against him.
The Dil Bechara (2020) director has strongly denied being involved in the consumptions of drugs.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Mukesh has also stated that he will be taking legal action against Rhea Chakraborty. He said:
“She is just naming any and everyone randomly. Maybe she thinks it will help her case. But this is not fair.
“I’ve nothing to do with drugs of any kind. I don’t even smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol, so where’s the question of consuming hard drugs?”
Mukesh Chhabra continued to state why he has decided to speak out:
“She’s taking revenge on me for not speaking up in my defence. I have kept quiet. I decided that is the best way to let the current furore die down.
“But now by naming me, Rhea has seriously compromised my name. I need to clear my reputation.”
Mukesh Chhabra further added that he will be taking legal action against the actress. He explained:
“We are definitely taking legal action against Rhea. We’re now looking at what remedial legal action is most appropriate.
“But I’d sincerely advise Rhea to not throw around names to deflect attention from herself. It won’t help her.”
“I can’t speak for others. But my name has been dragged into this purely with malicious intent.”
On the professional front, Mukesh Chhabra made his directorial debut with Dil Bechara starring Sushant.
Featuring opposite the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput was Sanjana Sanghi. Dil Bechara marks the late actor’s final film. It was released on Disney+ Hotstar.
Meanwhile, Rhea Chakraborty has been sent to 14 days in judicial custody where she remains until further action is taken.
