Actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik reportedly named 25 Bollywood celebrities who may have links with the drug cartel.

The matter came to light amid the ongoing interrogation of Rhea by the NCB in connection with the drugs angle in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.

The actress was formally arrested on September 8, 2020.

According to reports, the NCB has made a list based on the names revealed by Rhea and Showik.

The NCB will issue summons to these “top Bollywood celebrities”. The list has separated them into three categories, Cartel A, B and C.

Electronic devices seized from Rhea and Showik detailed a connection with these Bollywood celebrities and hinted at their alleged link with the drug cartel.

During questioning, Rhea is said to have confessed to consuming marijuana. Previously, the actress denied ever taking drugs but said that her boyfriend Sushant used to.

Rhea has also claimed that drugs were taken on the set of Sushant’s 2018 film Kedarnath, which also starred Sara Ali Khan and was directed by Abhishek Kapoor.

While the names of the Bollywood celebrities have not been named by the NCB as of yet, a lawyer has released the names of 14 of them.

Journalist Pradeep Bhandari revealed that Showik had named 14 prominent celebrities and that Rhea would reveal more during questioning.

On September 5, 2020, he posted on Twitter:

“Narcotics Bureau has accessed names of 14 prominent Bollywood celebrities who were in touch with Showik Chakraborty.”

“Rhea will reveal more in custody soon. No one can stop cleanse up of Bollywood. This drug racket has links with murder racket. CBI is moving fast.”

Lawyer Vibhor Anand later released the first eight names based on reliable sources.

He later disclosed a further six names.

So far, nine people have been arrested. They are Rhea Chakraborty, Abbas Lakhani, Karan Arora, Abdel Basit Parihar, Samuel Miranda, Showik Chakraborty, Dipesh Sawant, Kaizan Ebrahim and Zaid Vilatra.

They have been booked under sections 20, 27 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).

Two parallel investigations by the CBI and Enforcement Directorate are being conducted in relation to Sushant’s death.

During questioning, Rhea filed a case with the Mumbai Police against Sushant’s sister Priyanka Singh for allegedly prescribing medicines to the actor with any consultations.

The allegations were criticised by the family lawyer. He claimed that it was so the Mumbai Police could do “some mischief” and prevent justice from ensuing.
