The late actor “was the only consumer of drugs.”
Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde claimed that the late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput used to consume drugs before his relationship with the actress.
This statement was made during Rhea’s bail hearing before the Bombay High Court on Tuesday, 29 September 2020.
The late actor reportedly committed suicide on 14 June 2020. In fact, Sushant’s father, KK Singh accused Rhea of abetment to suicide.
In his argument defending Rhea Chakraborty, Maneshinde stated the late actor’s co-stars Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor also confirmed his use of drugs.
Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and even Deepika Padukone are being investigated by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for their involvement in drugs.
Satish Maneshine said:
“It is not that Sushant Singh Rajput got into drugs after Rhea came into his life.
“His co-stars Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor appear to have given statements Sushant Singh Rajput was consuming drugs much prior to 2019.”
According to Live Law India, Maneshinde added:
“Had Sushant Singh Rajput been alive today, he would have been punished under Section 20.
“Sushant would have then claimed the immunity of rehabilitation and got away with punishment for small quantities.”

Currently, Rhea is in custody at Byculla Jail. She was arrested on 8 September 2020 for procuring drugs in relation to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.
“There is nothing to say that Rhea financed any illicit drug purchase.”
“Even if the prosecution case is accepted, that it only small quantity for the consumption of Sushant Singh Rajput,” he continued.
Maneshinde further added that during the time that Rhea Chakraborty and Sushant were living together, the late actor “was the only consumer of drugs.”
Satish Maneshinde also claimed that the amount reportedly purchased was “25 grams for the consumption of Sushant.”
The lawyer stated that this small amount indicates that there was no means of profit.
Meanwhile, the lawyer representing Sushant’s family in their case against Rhea, Vikas Singh voiced the family’s disappointment with the case.
He revealed that the family feels let down by the agencies because they believe the case has been derailed. He said:
“Today, we are helpless as we don’t know in which direction the case is going. Till today, CBI has not done a press briefing on what they have found out. I am not happy with the speed at which the case is going.”
