"I'm humiliated and traumatised."

Bollywood actor Mouni Roy has spoken out about a deeply unsettling experience she says occurred during a recent public appearance in Karnal, Haryana.

The actor took to her Instagram Stories on Saturday, January 24, 2026, to describe what she termed harassment by several audience members.

According to Roy, the incident unfolded during a wedding-related event where she was invited to perform as a guest.

She alleged that as she moved closer to the stage, several men approached under the guise of taking photographs.

Roy claimed these individuals placed their hands on her waist while pretending to pose for pictures.

When she asked them to remove them, the actor said she was met with hostility and aggressive reactions.

The situation worsened, she explained, once she finally reached the stage and began her performance.

Roy alleged that two men standing at the front passed lewd remarks, made obscene gestures, and hurled verbal abuse.

She said she attempted to signal them to stop, hoping organisers or security would intervene promptly.

Instead, the men reportedly responded by throwing roses at her while continuing their disturbing behaviour.

Despite the discomfort and shock, Roy said she completed her performance as scheduled.

She expressed disappointment that no organiser stepped forward to remove the men from the front rows.

Reflecting on the incident, the 40-year-old actor said the experience left her shaken and humiliated.

Addressing the wider implications, Roy raised concerns for women at the beginning of their entertainment careers.

“If someone like me has to go through this, I can only imagine what new girls starting to work and do shows must be.”

She added: “I’m humiliated and traumatised and want the authorities to take action for this intolerable behaviour.”

In another Instagram Story, Roy accused the same men of filming her from inappropriate angles once she was on stage.

She claimed the elevated platform allowed audience members to record low-angle videos without her consent.

The actor expressed anguish over what she described as entitlement masked by age and social acceptance.

“I love my country, our people, our traditions, but this? The guts. The entitlement of being men.”

She continued by stating that she rarely shares negative experiences publicly but felt compelled to speak this time.

“I never put up anything negative I go through. But this. Have no words.”

Roy also reminded audiences that actors attend such events to contribute positively to celebrations, not endure mistreatment.

“We are their guests, and they harass us like this. Yuk.”

Mouni Roy’s candid account has added urgency to ongoing discussions around women’s safety at public appearances.
