"Just caught a couple committing indecency."
A Pakistani couple has alleged harassment and attempted extortion by two Punjab Police constables.
The account was shared on Voice of Customer Pakistan, a social media-based consumer advocacy community, and went viral.
The post triggered a wave of reactions online, with several users sharing strikingly similar personal experiences of their own.
According to the husband, the incident took place in the Wahdat Road area of Lahore while he was travelling with his pregnant wife.
He said he pulled over to the extreme left of the road after his wife began vomiting due to pregnancy-induced nausea.
He turned on the vehicle’s hazard indicators and stepped out to assist his wife and clean the car as needed.
At that point, he claimed two uniformed police personnel approached them on a motorcycle without a registration plate.
He also noted that both individuals were missing their mandatory nameplates, which are required to be visibly worn at all times.
According to the man, one of the personnel made a phone call stating: “We just caught a couple committing indecency.
“Quickly send a police mobile.”
He said he stepped out and asked for an explanation but was told an FIR would be filed against them both.
After he showed the mess in the vehicle and explained that his wife was unwell, one of the personnel attempted to open the rear door.
The constable reportedly said: “Let’s go, now we’ll talk at the police station.”
The man refused to move and asked both individuals to show their nameplates, which reportedly provoked an angry and abusive response.
He alleged that the personnel became physically abusive before offering to let the couple leave in exchange for PKR 5,000.
As soon as he dialled the police emergency helpline 15, he said both individuals fled the scene immediately on their motorcycle.
Despite being told that help was on the way, no assistance arrived for at least 40 minutes after the call was made.
The couple was ultimately forced to return home without receiving any response or support from the relevant authorities.
In his post, the man wrote: “Why don’t higher Punjab Police authorities teach professionalism to their minions?
“Living peacefully in this country is merely a dream.”
The post drew an enormous number of reactions, with many users sharing disturbingly similar encounters of their own across Lahore.
Content creator Hamna Ayub said something similar happened to her husband and her.
She said a police bike came from the wrong way to harass them and attempted to snatch her phone during a helpline 15 call.
Another user described how a constable threatened to take their car to the police station while their daughter slept in the backseat.
That user noted the officer only changed his tone after the family began filming the encounter on their phone.
Several commenters actively tagged political profiles, with one writing: “Maryam Nawaz, I think this has gone way too far now.
“YOU LITERALLY NEED TO TAKE SERIOUS ACTION AGAINST THESE HEINOUS ACTIVITIES OF PUNJAB POLICE.”
No official response from Punjab Police authorities regarding the claims made in the viral post has been issued as yet.
