"Your uniqueness is your strength."

Within beauty and grooming, Marie Royce has made impressive and significant contributions.

She works at Wimpole Clinic which is in Birmingham, UK, and specialises in eyebrow transplants.

Although Marie is Phillipino, an ancestry test revealed that she is 30% Indian.

Among her vast range of clients, Marie works with many South Asian individuals.

These include clients of Indian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani, and Sri Lankan backgrounds.

In our exclusive interview, Marie Royce shares insights about hair loss, transplantation, and her beauty career.

Can you share a bit about your background and how you came to work at Wimpole Clinic?

Marie Joyce talks Eyebrow Transplants, Hair Loss & More - 1I began my career in the beauty industry when I had my first baby and wanted a job that I was passionate about but flexible enough for me as a new mother.

My previous job was as Leona Lewis’s lifestyle manager, so travel and working in that capacity was not an option.

I quickly grew with a passion for enhancing natural features by doing Microblading, and eyebrows quickly became my niche.

After my own brow transplant journey at a clinic in Holborn, I joined Wimpole to specialize in brow restoration, understanding the niche and seeing an opportunity to help improve it.

My journey has been one of learning, growth, and a genuine desire to help clients feel their best.

Many clients find me through referrals or social media, where they see the transformative work I’ve been able to do.

When can clients first start losing their eyebrows, and how does it happen?

Eyebrow hair loss can begin as early as the late teens or early twenties for some clients, depending on their individual circumstances.

It often occurs due to factors such as hormonal changes, over-plucking, genetic predisposition, or health conditions like alopecia or thyroid imbalances.

For South Asian clients, traditional beauty practices such as threading or waxing can exacerbate hair loss over time if not done carefully.

How do clients feel when they lose their brows, and what are the initial reactions from others?

Marie Joyce talks Eyebrow Transplants, Hair Loss & More - 2Eyebrow loss can have a profound emotional impact on clients, often leading to feelings of self-consciousness or a loss of confidence.

For South Asian clients, where bold and defined brows are often considered a beauty standard, the loss can be even more pronounced.

Some clients have shared stories of avoiding social events or relying heavily on makeup to restore their sense of identity.

For many, the opportunity for a brow transplant feels like a fresh start.

South Asian clients often express relief and gratitude, as their brows are an integral part of their beauty identity.

The procedure is viewed as life-changing, providing a permanent solution to a long-standing concern.

What are the initial reactions after the treatment is done?

Reactions can be mixed at times. The first look in the mirror post-treatment is often filled with joy and emotion.

However, despite prior warnings about bruising and swelling, this can still come as a shock to some clients.

It may appear as though they’ve been in a fight. Clients are amazed at how their new brows shape their look and feel.

Many share that it’s like rediscovering a part of themselves they thought they’d lost forever.

What advice would you give to others who have suffered hair loss?

Marie Joyce talks Eyebrow Transplants, Hair Loss & More - 3My advice is to explore your options and know that you’re not alone.

There are effective solutions available, whether through professional treatments like transplants or temporary solutions like makeup and microblading.

Most importantly, seek out supportive communities and professionals who can guide you through the process.

Is there a stigma in the Desi community surrounding hair loss? If so, what can be done to combat it?

Yes, there is a notable stigma, especially for women. Hair loss can be viewed as a flaw or even a failure to uphold beauty standards.

To combat this, we need to foster open conversations, educate the community about medical causes, and normalise seeking treatments without shame.

What would you say to young women who feel self-conscious about their body hair and looks?

Marie Joyce talks Eyebrow Transplants, Hair Loss & More - 5Beauty comes in many forms, and your uniqueness is your strength.

If certain features bother you, there’s no harm in seeking changes, but it’s equally important to embrace yourself as you are.

Confidence is truly the most attractive feature anyone can have.

Looking ahead, I plan to expand my services to make transformative brow solutions more accessible by encouraging more doctors to specialize in the special techniques.

We also expect to branch out more into eyelash hair transplants, which are also proving increasingly popular.

Marie Royce’s wise words about embracing beauty and strength will inspire millions of people.

She also has a wide array of global clients. Detailing this, Marie adds:

“I have clients all over the world that buy my template tool and patients that fly in to have their brows done by the best brow specialists where I am a patient advisor for the biggest Harley Street hair clinic which has since evolved into all hair transplantation procedures.

“I have a great little black book and have helped a number of celebrities too.”

Marie Royce’s beauty journey is one of success and triumph. As she continues to explore new horizons, we wish her all the best.
