Best of the Best taps into a real phenomenon.
Netflix has confirmed the full cast for Lena Khan’s new film Best of the Best, and Lilly Singh is among the newly announced cast members.
The film follows childhood best friends Maya and Anjali, who join their college’s Bollywood dance team.
However, their journey to a national championship becomes far more intense and cutthroat than expected.
It is not known what Lilly’s role will be in the film but she joins a whole host of actors.
Other cast members include Sex Education‘s Chaneil Kular, Ankur Rathee, Shreya Navile, Becky Alex, Nihar Duvvuri, Nico Greetham, Amryn Khurana and Tanishq Joshi.
Also among the cast members are Sasha Bhasin, who is best known for playing Praveena in the second series of Netflix’s XO, Kitty.
Janina Gavankar, who starred alongside Kevin Hart in 2024’s Borderlands, and Saara Chaudry, who worked with Lilly Singh in The Muppets Mayhem, complete the cast.
They join previously announced stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Priyanka Kedia and Hasan Minhaj.
The script is penned by Hasan and Prashanth Venkataramanujam.
The pair also produce under 186K Films alongside Jonathan Eirich for Rideback. Executive producers are Ryan Halprin for Rideback and Ellen Schwartz.

On US college campuses, South Asian dance teams have become powerful spaces for community and cultural connection. Competitions across the country see teams battle to be crowned, as the title suggests, “Best of the Best.”
The story aims to spotlight the vibrancy of Bollywood Fusion Dance while exploring friendship and young adulthood.
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan previously expressed her enthusiasm on Instagram. She wrote: “My body is sore but my heart is full.”
Priyanka Kedia also shared her excitement online. She posted:
“The most surreal announcement I never could have imagined I’d get to make.”
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, thank you for making that little girl’s (and her parents’) dreams come true.
“This is going to be such an insanely special one. Get ready!”
First gaining prominence as a YouTuber, Lilly Singh has since gone on to host TV shows and star in films.
As well as Best of the Best, Lilly will also star in the upcoming comedy Doin’ It. She plays a 30-year-old virgin who gets a job as a high school sex education teacher.
