“My wife and my son are not your sympathy game!”
Lawyers involved in a dispute over an alleged assault on YouTuber Rajab Butt at Karachi City Courts have decided to withdraw cases filed against each other.
The resolution was reached after discussions were held at the Karachi Bar Association.
Both sides agreed to end weeks of internal legal conflict without imposing any conditions.
The issue originated on December 29, 2025, when Butt was allegedly assaulted at the City Courts premises while attending his bail hearing.
Butt had been facing a case for allegedly hurting religious sentiments, and the altercation led to multiple complaints and widespread reactions in legal circles.
Following the incident, Butt’s lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaq, filed a case against Advocate Riaz Ali Solangi, Advocate Abdul Fatah, and approximately 15 to 20 other lawyers.
The case included allegations under several sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including rioting, criminal intimidation, and punishment for causing harm.
Separately, the Punjab Bar Council took action against Mian Ashfaq upon the KBA’s request, temporarily suspending his license to practice law before reinstating it later.
Ashfaq visited the KBA office to hold a press conference after reaching an agreement with the other legal representatives.
Speaking to the media, Ashfaq confirmed that both parties had mutually decided to withdraw the cases and complaints filed across different forums.
He clarified that the understanding was unconditional but did not specify whether the original case against Rajab Butt would also be withdrawn.
Ashfaq also praised the Karachi Bar Association for facilitating dialogue.
Addressing the press, KBA President Warraich stated that the incident negatively affected the legal community’s reputation and standing in society.
He emphasised that lawyers should focus solely on representing clients in cases and avoid becoming complainants themselves.
Warraich added that no lawyer should engage in violence and that every litigant appearing in court deserves respectful treatment.
In a separate development, Rajab Butt sparked fresh controversy by posting alleged messages from his brother-in-law, Sheikh Aon, on Instagram.
He claimed that he never wanted these messages to be public but felt compelled to act after repeated attacks on his personal life.
Rajab accused Aon of using offensive language, leaking private information to podcast hosts, and manipulating public perception for sympathy.
He clarified that his wife and child should not be part of any sympathy narrative, stating:
“My wife and my son are not your sympathy game!”
The YouTuber also explained that his son Kivaan’s absence from vlogs was due to his mother’s decision, not his own choice.
Rajab warned critics discussing him and his wife, Eman, to fear Allah.
The YouTuber claimed he possesses recordings and screenshots supporting his allegations.
He questioned Aon’s ethics for allegedly using offensive terms against him, his family, and friends, calling the behaviour unacceptable.
Expressing uncertainty about his marriage, Rajab Butt admitted: “I don’t know if this marriage would work or not.. If it does, that’s only by the will of Allah!”
He concluded by emphasising that his son Kivaan remains the family’s top priority and that his well-being will always come first.
