Sometimes, a single sentence uttered by Bollywood celebrities can land them in heaps of controversy, as was the case for Kiara Advani.
In 2015, the actress gave an interview to journalists, in which she made some questionable remarks.
An old clip of this interview recently resurfaced on social media, triggering a barrage of hate towards Kiara.
In the clip, the actress said: “It’s sad. I mean, first it was beef. So, no one knows what’s next.
“But I think it’s taking away the meaning of democracy.
“We are kind of losing our freedom.
“So, maybe, after our 69-year freedom, let’s hope that as a country, and as a nation, we can do something against it.
“Maybe, we can make our government see why we have elected them and not take away the one thing we have, which is freedom.
“To me, freedom is just allowing ourselves to do everything we want to do and accepting responsibility for it.
“I’ve been brought up in that way.
“So, I hope that all of us use our freedom wisely.”
Beef has been banned in India due to cows being treated as sacred animals.
Netizens did not hide their disgust at Kiara Advani for appearing to comment against the Indian ban on beef.
One user commented: “Please don’t make these stupid bimbos your idols who will sell their own family for money.
“All paid stooges and PR.”
Another added: “They love vulgarity, drugs, drink, and beef, and want people to support them.
“They are all perverts; one should avoid even talking about such people.”
Celebrities such as Ranbir Kapoor have also been criticised for openly eating beef.
Before Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva (2022) was released, Ranbir faced similar backlash for his non-vegetarian preferences.
An old interview resurfaced, in which he was seen enjoying a beef burger.
He said: “I think chicken is the soya food for non-vegetarians.
“I’m a big beef guy.”
This backlash grew since Ranbir was confirmed to be playing Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming Ramayana series.
On the professional front, Kiara Advani was last seen in War 2 (2025), which was a box office failure.
After allegedly quitting Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3, she will next be seen in the Kannada-English film, Toxic, which she is currently filming.
She is also known for her performances including Good Newwz (2019) and Kabir Singh (2019).
