On December 8, 2021, a sessions court granted pre-arrest bail to Pakistani stage actress Khushboo Khan in relation to private videos of fellow actresses being leaked.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Rai Yasin Shaheen granted pre-arrest bail to the actress and restrained the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from arresting her until December 21.
A case had been registered following a complaint by Malik Tariq Mahmood, the producer of a theatre.
It was reported that a camera had secretly been installed in the dressing room of a theatre in Bhatta Chowk, Lahore.
The camera captured footage of stage actresses Silk, Zara Khan and Mehak Noor getting ready for their shows, including times when they were nude.
The matter came to light when the videos circulated on social media.
A police complaint was registered and officers later discovered that junior actor Kashif Chan had installed the camera.
Following his arrest, officers also seized his mobile phone for examination, discovering the objectionable videos.
During questioning, he admitted to filming the women and uploading the videos onto social media.
However, Kashif claimed that he was paid to carry out the crime, telling officers that senior actress Khushboo Khan and actor Imran Shouki had been responsible.
The two actors were booked by the FIA over their alleged role in the secret filming of stage actresses.
According to the complaint, the camera was installed and the private videos were leaked with the intention of blackmailing the victims.
An FIA official said: “Khushboo had given PKR 100,000 (£420) to a theatre employee, Chan, to install a secret camera in the changing room to record the naked videos of some three actresses working in the play.
“Later, Khushboo tried to blackmail them and uploaded their objectionable videos on the Internet.”
The victims have decided to take legal action against the theatre’s management team.
However, Malik Tariq Mahmood stated that his management team had no involvement in the crime.
He also claimed that Khushboo committed the crime due to having a grudge against the other actresses.
Malik said: “Khushboo had a grudge against the fellow actresses after she was removed from the play after a quarrel with them.”
Khushboo Khan, whose real name is Sobia Hussain, was initially a film actress.
But after realising she did not receive an applicable amount of film fame, Khushboo turned to stage and theatre, performing since 2000.
Khushboo has many stage performances to her name. These include Juppi Kutkay, Kurian Tik Tok, Athri and Wicket Uray Gi.
