Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s honey trap case has resulted in three people being sentenced to seven years in prison by a Lahore anti-terrorism court.

The verdict, delivered by Judge Arshad Javed, follows months of proceedings that gripped the entertainment industry and drew nationwide attention.

Amna Urooj, Zeeshan Qayyum, and Mamnoon Haider were found guilty of orchestrating a honey trap scheme that led to Khalil’s abduction.

Prosecutors said the trio lured the renowned screenwriter to a private apartment under false pretences.

They recorded him secretly and then held him captive while demanding ransom.

The incident took place in July 2024. Khalil was invited to Amna Urooj’s residence in Lahore, allegedly under the pretext of a professional meeting.

What followed was a shocking turn of events. He was held against his will for several days before being released.

A police complaint filed by Khalil on July 21, 2024, triggered an investigation that eventually led to multiple arrests.

Eight other individuals initially accused in the case were acquitted due to a lack of evidence.

These included Hassan Shah, who had been considered the mastermind behind the plan.

His accomplices included Tanveer Ahmad, Qaisar Abbas, Rasheed Ahmad, Falak Sher, Mian Khan, Yasir Ali, and Javed Iqbal.

Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s legal team had pushed for the harshest punishment possible, calling for the death penalty for those found guilty.

While the court did not agree to the request, the seven-year sentences handed down were seen by some as a step toward justice.

However, the legal narrative hasn’t been entirely one-sided.

A separate petition seeking to register a case against Khalil was dismissed by a local court.

The petitioner, Zainat Bibi, chose to withdraw the application for amendments.

The court, presided over by Judge Ilyas Rehan, accepted the request and closed the matter for now.

Meanwhile, Amna’s defence claimed Khalil’s manager had approached her with a professional proposal that soon turned personal.

According to her lawyer, Khalil arrived at a second meeting under the influence of alcohol and pressured her into a physical relationship.

It was alleged that Khalil even threatened to leak photographs of Urooj.

The defence further alleged that both Khalil and Amna were abducted by Hassan Shah.

Amna also claimed she was tortured by police and forced into admitting the honey-trap accusation.

Despite these conflicting narratives, the case has formally concluded with the conviction of three key individuals.

Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, best known for writing Meray Paas Tum Ho, has yet to speak in detail about the outcome.

However, his representatives maintain that justice was served.
