"It's just never been done before, on this scale in India"
Bollywood sensation Katrina Kaif was among an array of stars to perform at a lavish Indian wedding.
She performed at a ceremony hosted by South African businessman Ajay Gupta. His son, Suryakant, got married to a Delhi-based diamond merchant’s daughter on June 20, 2019.
It was a high profile wedding which reportedly cost £23 million. The wedding was held in Uttarakhand’s Auli, one of the most stunning hill stations in India.
The celebration was also one of the highest, at an altitude of 10,000 feet.
The wedding was managed by Katalyst Entertainment, whose Managing Director said:
“It’s just never been done before, on this scale in India on such a high altitude. Thankfully, we’ve managed to pull it off, in a wonderful way
The wedding spared no expense, bringing in India’s top film, TV and music sensations to perform which has gained attention across the country.
VIPs from across India arrived at the region by helicopters. It was reported that over 250 artists were hired to perform at the wedding.
The Managing Director added: “The location, altitude, approach and logistics all posed numerous challenges for us. It was a task to persuade the artists to make the journey from different parts of the country.
“Just think of it, it takes 20 hours by road from Delhi, or flight to Dehradun, Uttarakhand from elsewhere and followed by 14 hours to Auli by road to Joshimath, or 45 minutes to an hour by chopper.”
Among them included Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif who danced to some fan favourite songs such as ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’.
She appeared on stage with several backing dancers. The actress wore a red outfit complete with black leather trousers and boots.
Also at the luxury wedding was popular musician Badshah who took to the stage in a lime green jacket and black trousers.
He performed some of his most popular hits such as ‘Kar Gai Chull’.
According to reports, other big names from the music industry included Kailash Kher with his band Kailasa.
Javed Ali, Ash King and Abhijeet Sawant also rocked the stage with their soulful voices.
Models and presenters like Roshni Chopra, Urvashi Rautela, Sana Khan, Surbhi Jyoti and others ornamented the festivities with their beauty.
Nora Fatehi and Sidharth Malhotra reportedly also danced on stage at the wedding.
While Katrina was one of the standout stars, on the work front, after the success of Bharat alongside Salman Khan, she will star in Sooryavanshi opposite Akshay Kumar.
