The singer emphasised that he’s not interested in remaking older songs.

Instead, he finds the prospect of crafting original music for a film particularly thrilling.

Jay Sean shared his experience of writing two original songs for Call Me Dancer, a film he executively produced.

The film tells the inspiring story of a young Indian boy who becomes a ballet dancer in the West.

This authenticity is what he believes resonates with his fans, showcasing his true self as an artist.

Growing up as a Punjabi boy in England, he was influenced by a mix of R&B, hip-hop, and the sounds of Bollywood.

He absorbed Bhangra through family gatherings and Bollywood films.

When discussing his collaborations, Jay Sean revealed that nearly all of them stem from personal connections.

He shared:

“About 99 per cent of my collaborations have happened because I’ve met the artist in person.”

He relishes the challenge of blending different styles to create unique sounds, making collaboration an exciting part of his career.

Jay Sean also touched on his versatility as an artist, noting his preference not to be confined to a single genre.

He enjoys a variety of musical styles, from country to Afrobeat, and believes that music should evoke emotion, regardless of its label.

He declared: “Music is music.”

Jay Sean claimed that authenticity is key, saying:

“You can’t trick the listener. They can feel if a collaboration has been forced. It has to feel genuine.”

With his eagerness to explore Bollywood and his commitment to authentic music, Jay Sean continues to pave his path in the music industry.
