Triptii Dimri is in the headlines but this time for her personal life as there is speculation that she is dating businessman Sam Merchant.
The Animal actress was previously rumoured to have been in a relationship with producer Karnesh Ssharma. But the pair never publicly announced that they were dating.
Karnesh is the brother of Anushka Sharma and produced Bulbbul, which starred Triptii.
Reports of their apparent breakup first came to light in June 2023 after they unfollowed each other on Instagram.
Eagle-eyed social media users then discovered that Karnesh had also deleted his pictures with Triptii.
Following the reports, Triptii shared a cryptic Instagram Story that read:
“People are going to talk about you no matter what you do, so you might as well do whatever brings you joy.”
It now seems Triptii has found love with Sam Merchant.
Rumours of the new romance began circulating after pictures of Triptii at a wedding went viral.
As well as posing with friends, she was seen with Sam and the pair appeared to have coordinated their outfits.
For the event, Triptii looked gorgeous in an off-white embroidered lehenga-bralette combo.
Meanwhile, Sam was also dressed in a white ensemble, complete with a peach-coloured turban.
The pair smiled as they posed for a selfie.
Another image from the night-time celebrations featured Triptii in a black and purple number smiling alongside Sam.
At another event, Triptii and Sam posed with a friend.
Triptii stunned in a shimmering green dress while Sam wore a buttoned-down tuxedo.
Although there is no confirmation, the pictures have left fans intrigued.
But who is Sam Merchant?
He is a businessman based in Goa.
It is reported that he was previously a model and won a modelling contest in 2002.
Sam eventually ventured into business, launching beach clubs and hotels in Goa.
Since the release of Animal, Triptii Dimri’s popularity has skyrocketed.
A particular scene involving her character sharing a passionate kiss with Ranbir Kapoor before getting intimate attracted a lot of attention.
Responding to the criticism, Triptii said:
“This scene is being criticised a lot. This troubled me initially because I am a person who has rarely faced criticism. I was surprised. But I sat quietly and thought about it.
“The day I decided to become an actor, no one forced me to become an actor.
“I wanted to do it because I found it exciting. I did not do anything wrong in the film.
“As I started acting, the character I was playing became a part of the healing in a way. I started enjoying it. I started finding happiness in every challenge and thing that came my way.”
On her parents’ reaction to the scene, Triptii said:
“My parents got a little taken aback. (They said) ‘We have never seen something like this in films and you have done it’.
“It took them time to get over that scene. They were very sweet to me though.
“They were like, ‘You shouldn’t have done that… but it’s okay. As parents, we will obviously feel this’.”
