Will Lauren be proved right?
In June 2025, Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) and Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) struck up an unlikely bond in ITV’s Coronation Street.
In the episode broadcast on July 11, however, Lauren seemed to grow suspicious of Aadi’s intentions.
Lauren had a conversation with Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), and she revealed that Aadi was planning to help her move a new sofa to her flat.
Shona observed that the pair were growing closer, which led Lauren to ask her whether she thought Aadi was all he seemed.
Keen to lighten the mood, Shona said that almost all young men want something more, but this left Lauren more unsettled.
The barmaid was spooked when Aadi gave her an air fryer as a housewarming present.
Despite her reluctance to accept the gift and saying it was too much, Aadi began insisting that she take it.
The episode of Coronation Street further showed Aadi attempt to diffuse the awkwardness.
He suggested Lauren make him something using the air fryer as a way of “repaying” him.
However, Lauren was already uncomfortable and she ultimately decided to stop Aadi from helping her after all.
Lauren’s agitation around men is not unexpected by viewers as she has had terrible experiences with them.
In November 2024, it was revealed that Lauren was the one who murdered Joel Deering (Calum Lill).
The young woman had seen Joel strangling Max Turner (Paddy Bever) and was forced to kill Joel to save Max.
However, regarding her situation with Aadi, Lauren soon discovered that she was wrong about him.
Aadi immediately offered to help Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) fix a flat tyre, without seeking anything in return.
Lauren regretted being cold with Aadi and admitted to Shona that her apathy was due to her fear that Aadi only wanted sex.
Shona clarified things and encouraged Lauren to see where things go if she genuinely liked Aadi.
Are Aadi and Lauren set for something genuine, or will Lauren be proved right about her initial uncertainties regarding Aadi?
In April 2025, it was confirmed that Adam Hussain would be leaving Coronation Street after five years of playing Aadi.
Therefore, could this storyline lead to his departure?
Confirming his exit, Adam said: “I guess the secret’s out now!
“As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures.”
“Over the five years I’ve spent there, I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little.
“I have made friends that will last a lifetime and will surely miss such a special family!
“This isn’t a farewell for Aadi however – more like a see you later!
“I’m excited to see what the future brings!
“Thank you Coronation Street for giving me such a privilege of portraying this character for you. Until next time!”
