Asha made a devastating decision.

Things are going from bad to worse for Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) in ITV’s Coronation Street.

The young paramedic recently dealt with unacceptable racism in her workplace.

Asha’s attempts to call out the perpetrator of the racism – Naomi (Melissa Batchelor) – were unsuccessful.

Naomi denied Asha’s allegations, leading the latter to confide in her new stepmother, Bernie Winter (Jane Hazelgrove).

Bernie later confronted Naomi, but the racist woman deflected and instead threatened to sue for defamation.

In the episode of Coronation Street, which was released early on Monday, October 6, 2025, on ITVX, Asha made a devastating decision.

The instalment of the soap showed Asha being rushed to the hospital after trying to kill herself.

Coronation Street showed Bernie and Asha’s father, Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin), enjoying a morning at the Chariot Square Hotel.

After Kevin Webster’s (Michael Le Vell) marriage to Abi Franklin (Sally Carman-Duttine) crumbles, Dev joins in attempts to cheer Kevin up.

Meanwhile, Asha took harmful swigs from a bottle of wine, subtly saying goodbye to her loved ones.

After leaving Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) to look after the shop, she headed out with the bottle.

Soon afterwards, Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) found Asha unconscious on a bench.

Paramedics tended to Asha while Dev rushed to her side.

Dev and Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) were asked if Asha had consumed drugs.

Sienna (Charlotte Tyree) reluctantly revealed that she had found drugs on Asha.

While Asha will go on to survive her suicide attempt, Dev will be heartbroken to witness the state of his daughter.

Meanwhile, other residents on the Street will reflect upon their own struggles after learning of Asha’s trouble.

Tanisha Gorey recently opened up on the impact such a storyline had on her personal life.

The actress explained how her boyfriend’s support helped her cope with the situation.

She said: “It’s been weeks and weeks of 12-hour days, being sad and depressed and crying.

“Sometimes it gets in your head, and I really noticed that I was bringing it home with me.

“Because I was learning lines for the next day, there wasn’t a turn-off or escape from it.

“It is heavy, so my boyfriend pulls me out of it.

“He’ll say, ‘Let’s watch something a bit light-hearted tonight’.

“I’m really embarrassed to admit it, but I’m a Disney Channel girl.

“So two of the films I had to put on to cheer myself up were Hannah Montana: The Movie and High School Musical!

“Anything that’s light that reminds me of childhood and takes my mind off work.”

Talking about her boyfriend, Tanisha continued: “He’s great. He is very supportive and very giving.

“He’s the most perfect person in my life.

“When I get home at 8 pm, my tea is cooked, the house is clean, and the washing’s been done.

“He’s really supportive. He will be the other characters – Dev, Bernie, Nina and Summer.

“He’s not an actor, so it’s hilarious – his job is the complete opposite of what I do, but I think he quite enjoys it!”
