“The media focused entirely on our family"

Humaira Asghar Ali’s brother has spoken out after days of speculation surrounding the family’s alleged refusal to claim her remains from Karachi.

The model and actress was found dead in her DHA apartment during a court-ordered eviction.

Her body was discovered in an advanced state of decomposition. Police now estimate she had passed away at least eight months ago.

Initial reports alleged that her family in Lahore, particularly her father, declined to claim the body.

This narrative caused widespread public outrage and sparked commentary across media and entertainment circles.

Humaira’s brother, Naveed Asghar, arrived in Karachi to take the body back to Lahore for burial.

He rejected claims that the family was unwilling to take responsibility for the deceased.

Humaira’s brother stated the body was in police custody and undergoing investigative procedures.

Naveed told the reporters: “We were in contact with Chhipa and police officials for the past three days.

“Due to the condition of the body, we could not carry it immediately. The police were handling legal protocols, not us.”

Naveed accused the media of shaping the narrative.

He said: “The media focused entirely on our family and ignored other aspects that could explain her death.”

According to him, the police surgeon’s autopsy confirmed the remains were approximately eight months old.

He also suggested the government mandate CCTV installation in rented homes to prevent such tragedies.

Naveed described his sister as someone who chose independence over family closeness.

He explained she had been living in Karachi for seven years and rarely visited home.

“Sometimes she would not call us for a year. My mother tried contacting her, but her phone had been off for the last six months.”

However, a conflicting account has emerged from Humaira’s sister-in-law.

According to her, Humaira respected her parents but had serious issues with her brother.

She alleged that her brother took control of the family’s property and denied Humaira her rightful share.

She also claimed that Humaira asked her mother for financial support, which was not granted.

“She spoke well of her family, even when they did not support her.”

She suggested that the very brother now claiming Humaira’s body was one of the people who had once opposed her career in showbiz.

The circumstances of Humaira Asghar Ali’s death remain unclear.

Her life, once lived in the public eye, has ended in mystery, family rifts, and unanswered questions.
