"I request you to not believe nonsensical news."

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan took to his Instagram profile to deny claims he had been arrested.

In July 2024, it was reported that the singer had been arrested in Dubai.

The rumours stated that the alleged arrest was over a defamation case filed by his former manager.

Rahat posted a video on his Instagram profile to clarify the situation.

He said: “Hello, everyone. This is your Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and I’ve come to Dubai to record my songs.

“It’s going very well and everything is fine.

“I would request all of you not to believe or pay attention to baseless rumours.

“It’s not at all like enemies are saying. Hopefully, I’ll come back to my country soon and back to all of you.

“And I will introduce you to a super-hit song.

“To all my fans around the world, I request you to not believe nonsensical news or rumours.

“Please do not waste your time and please trust the artist.

“My audience and my fans are my power.

“I love them all. Thank you very much.”

In recent months, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has found himself in the headlines for negativity.

In January 2024, a video clip went viral purported to show Rahat hitting one of his students with slippers while asking him about a bottle.

The singer clarified the clip saying that the man had made a mistake for which he had simply been punished.

Rahat’s student said: “Those who have spread the video are trying to defame my ustad.

“Ustad Ji came and apologised to me. He is my father, murshid, guru, and there is nothing wrong with a father punishing his son.

“Creating a controversy over this video is a way of blackmailing my ustad.

Rahat is a highly acclaimed Pakistani singer and a connoisseur of ghazal and qawwali.

He has sung songs in Bollywood too, including the famous ‘Teri Meri‘ from Bodyguard (2011).

Rahat is the nephew of the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Talking about his influence, Rahat said: “I have a fraction of the artistry [Nusrat] had.

“He was the voice – when he sings, he’s in your spirit.

“I can honour that, but I can’t replicate it. His Western audiences didn’t even understand the languages he performed in, but their responses? Mind-blowing.”

On the work front, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan recently composed the opening theme of the drama series Kabuli Pulao (2023).
