Sahir Ali Bagga calls Rahat Fateh Ali Khan a 'Hypocrite' - F

"he should explain why he is not giving me the credit"

Recently, Sahir Ali Bagga was in the headlines for his criticism of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

He had called Rahat a “hypocrite” but did not explain his reason for the comments.

Sahir has now extended an apology and clarified his outburst.

He said: “The desire of a star-maker is not just money.

“I am also a composer whom I am very proud of.

“My ALLAH has given me the ability to work hard for the talent of my country, and there is no doubt that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is the best talent of Pakistan.”

He highlighted his efforts to showcase Pakistani talent globally.

Referring to the creation of the song ‘Zaroori Thaa’, Sahir said:

“This is the song that I myself did not know that I would create this song and it would become a historical song of the Pakistan music industry.

“Today, this song is at the top in terms of the Pakistani music industry, and content, it’s very close to 2 billion views on YouTube in one play.

“And if my right is only to be given as a creator, which only the hero of this project Rahat Fateh Ali Khan can give; and for some reason he is not giving it, he should explain why he is not giving me the credit for this achievement.”

He appealed to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to acknowledge his contributions.

“And if I have called someone a hypocrite, then I have called every person a hypocrite who wants to hide the truth and is trying to kill someone’s right, ALLAH has blessed Rahat Fateh Ali Khan with good abilities, he should give me my right.”

Sahir claimed that there are many other songs on YouTube that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has not given him credit for.

“I still request that I be given credit because I do not want the juniors who idealise me to face problems in their struggle, and I should be given my right.

“Apart from this, I have no intention of saying anything bad about anyone. Thank you.”

This has sparked a debate on social media.

A user asked: “Why did Sahir Ali Bagga not say anything all these years? Why now suddenly?

“Now that he knows people are against Rahat Fateh Ali due to the leaked video, he thought it was better to add fuel to the fire to hurt his reputation further.”

Another said: “This is not asking for credit; this is straight-up begging. And after all this you expect him to tell everyone that you were the composer?”

One wrote: This is the problem with Pakistani celebrities.

“They try to drag and badmouth their contemporaries when they themselves can’t achieve the same level of success. Just like Gohar was doing to Farhan.”
