"Hans Zimmer is also fascinated."
It has been reported that the renowned composer Hans Zimmer will compose music for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan.
The project is believed to be a planned trilogy that will chronicle the Indian epic.
Along with Zimmer, AR Rahman has allegedly been signed to work on the music as well.
A source confirmed the news and said: “Hans Zimmer is gearing up to make his debut in the Indian film industry with Ramayan.
“Namit Malhotra and Nitesh Tiwari have always been vocal about their global vision for this Indian epic and they are leaving no stone unturned to make that a reality.
“Hans Zimmer is also fascinated by the vision for the story of Lord Ram and is all ready to compose the score of Ramayan.
“It’s a match made in heaven. Two global talents – AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer – are set to team up for the present India’s story to the world.
“Ramayan is truly a global film and the makers are attempting to represent Indian cinema at a global level with the epic.
“Years have been spent not just researching the subject but also pre-visualisation of the world.
“Ramayan is a legacy film and the makers have embarked on a journey to bring it to the spectacle with all the responsibility.
“The talks are also on with a global studio from Hollywood to come on board for the international release, but it’s all in a very nascent stage.”
The shooting of the first part of the film has begun. Ranbir Kapoor is set to lead the cast as Ram, with Sai Pallavi starring as Sita.
Sunny Deol has reportedly been cast as Hanuman, while Yash is due to play Ravan.
Pictures that are purported to show the sets of the film have also been leaked online.
These depict Arun Govil as Ram’s father Dashrath and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi.
Govil famously played Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s television series Ramayan (1987–1988). For the iconic series, Ravindra Jain composed the soundtrack.
It is currently unknown when Nitesh Tiwari’s film is scheduled to be released.
Meanwhile, Zimmer has won two Academy Awards for his work on The Lion King (1994) and Dune (2021).
He has also won four Grammy Awards.
In his illustrious career, Hans Zimmer has also created music for films including Gladiator (2000), The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception (2010) and Man of Steel (2013).
