"He is under doctor’s observation."
Renowned international actor, Irrfan Khan, who has appeared in Bollywood and Hollywood films has recently been admitted to the ICU at Mumbai’s Kokilaben hospital.
The actor was taken to hospital and has been kept under observation for a colon infection.
According to an official statement made by Irrfan’s spokesperson, it read:
“Yes, it is true that Irrfan Khan is admitted in ICU at Kokilaben in Mumbai because of a colon infection.
“We would keep everyone updated. He is under doctor’s observation.
“His strength and courage have helped him battle and fight so far and we are sure with his tremendous willpower and prayers of all his well-wishers, he will recover soon.”
Irrfan Khan has endured a lot in the last few years. In 2018, the star was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour. For the same, he sought treatment abroad.
As a result of this illness, Irrfan had to take a break from Bollywood for a year. His latest Bollywood film was Angrezi Medium which released in March 2020.
While shooting for the film in the UK, Irrfan was also undergoing treatment. However, Irrfan remained away from the promotions for the film due to his health.
Unfortunately, the theatrical release of Angrezi Medium (2020) was affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Understandably, the film took a hit at the box office and instead, the film was later premiered online on Disney+Hotstar.
Before the film’s release, Irrfan Khan shared a video message concerning his condition. He said:
“Hello, brothers and sister. I am with you and not with you. This film, Angrezi Medium (2020), is very special to me I truly wanted to promote this film as passionately as we made it.
“But there are some ‘unwanted guests’ in my body and they’re keeping me busy. I’ll keep you informed on that front.”
Irrfan Khan further added:
“One doesn’t have any other choice but to remain positive. Whether you are able to make lemonade in such situations is entirely up to you.
“We’ve made this film with the same sort of positivity. I hope this film is able to make you laugh and cry in equal measures.”
More recently, Irrfan lost his 95-year-old mother, Saeeda Begum. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus outbreak, Irrfan could not attend the funeral. It was reported he had to resort to video calling to attend her funeral.
Irrfan Khan lives with his wife Sutapa Sikdar and two sons, Babil and Ayan in Mumbai. Reportedly, they are currently with him in the hospital.
