"They mistook me for being crazy."

Pakistani film actress Meera has reportedly been admitted to a psychological hospital in New York following severe mental distress.

The admission reportedly occurred at Montefiore Medical Centre in the United States during treatment for psychological strain.

Sources say the stress developed while she was filming an upcoming thriller scheduled for Eid 2026 release.

The film is being directed by renowned actor Shaan Shahid and produced by Red Lipstick Productions.

According to reports, the project required Meera to perform emotionally intense scenes with psychologically demanding depth.

Industry insiders believe the dark narrative and sustained intensity gradually affected her emotional stability during production.

She is currently receiving care at a mental health facility where doctors are monitoring her recovery closely.

Those close to the production described her role as psychologically demanding, though specific plot details remain undisclosed.

This development has drawn attention because it is not the first time Meera faced psychiatric care.

In April 2021, she was reportedly admitted briefly to a mental health facility in the USA.

Local media then claimed doctors deemed her ‘mentally unfit’ after a disagreement with medical staff there.

Reports further alleged she demanded special treatment, citing ‘protocol by the Prime Minister’ during consultations there.

Following those claims, a doctor reportedly alerted mental health officials, leading to a short admission period.

Meera later clarified: “I’ve been struggling with depression, and that’s why I went to the hospital.

“However, once there, they mistook me for being crazy. They even confiscated my phone.

“There’s a difference between being depressed and mentally unstable, which is important to understand, but they refused to recognise the difference here and admitted me.

“I was screaming the entire night, calling for help, and no one came.”

“It was a really scary night for me.”

Despite controversies, Meera remains a significant figure whose career has seen resilience and repeated public scrutiny.

She was last seen in Baji, which received positive audience response and renewed critical interest nationwide.

The forthcoming Eid release is expected to mark her return to cinemas after a noticeable gap.

Observers note that psychologically intense thrillers can exert prolonged pressure on performers without adequate support systems.

The situation has prompted conversations about mental health awareness within the industry.

While details remain, limited representatives have not issued comprehensive statements regarding her condition or timeline publicly.

Fans, meanwhile, have expressed concern and support, hoping for recovery ahead of the demanding release schedule.

The production team continues preparations as the film approaches its Eid release.
