For the event, Sonakshi blended tradition with contemporary
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal hosted a lavish wedding reception at Bastian in Mumbai and reportedly saw 1,000 attendees.
After much speculation, the couple got married in a private ceremony at Sonakshi’s Bandra apartment.
Sharing official photos, Sonakshi wrote:
“On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017) in each other’s eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it.
“Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs… leading up to this moment… where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods… we are now man and wife.
“Here’s to love, hope and all things beautiful with each other, from now until forever.”
While the wedding was a low-key ceremony, the reception was the opposite.
Lots of celebrities were in attendance to see the newlyweds.
For the event, Sonakshi blended tradition with contemporary as she chose a red saree.
An eye-catching aspect was the fact that her hands were decorated with traditional alta instead of mehendi.
Meanwhile, Zaheer opted for a white kurta set.
The newlyweds arrived hand-in-hand and happily posed for pictures.
The parents of the bride, Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha looked resplendent as ever.
Poonam was in a sequin-trimmed ivory suit while Shatrughan was dressed in an electric blue ethnic outfit with a shawl around his neck.
There had been speculation that Shatrughan did not know about his daughter’s wedding.
He said: “All I can say is, nowadays, children don’t seek permission; they simply inform their parents.”
However, Shatrughan later dismissed such rumours and confirmed he would be present at the wedding and assured that he was supporting his daughter.
He said: “I will be there at the wedding, certainly. Why shouldn’t I and why won’t I? Her happiness is my happiness and vice versa.
“She has every right to choose her partner and the other details of her wedding.”
Among the stars were Anil Kapoor and Chunky Panday, who posed on the red carpet together.
Anil suited up for the occasion while Chunky stood out in a bright blue blazer.
Sonakshi’s close friend Huma Qureshi looked stunning in a white ensemble.
She wore a shimmering saree with a bedazzled floor-length jacket over it.
Kajol exuded elegance as she smiled for the camera.
The superstar wore a gleaming gold saree with a matching blouse.
She paired her look with chunky earrings.
Sonakshi Sinha’s Heeramandi co-star Aditi Rao Hydari was also in attendance.
Aditi, who was also part of the wedding, wore a black and gold beaded sharara suit while her fiance Siddharth wore a cream embroidered sherwani with a white kurta beneath and slim-fitted trousers.
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding reception proved to be a star-studded one, with numerous celebrities posing on the red carpet.
