Indian influencer Nidhi Tiwari, who had a combined following of approximately 1.6 million across platforms, has died at the age of 30.
Nidhi, a resident of Singrauli district in Madhya Pradesh, was found at her home in the Bhusa Mod area, according to Indian media reports.
Family members rushed her to hospital, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
Police have opened a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Nidhi had around 900,000 followers on Facebook and nearly 700,000 on Instagram.
This made her one of the most recognised social media personalities from the Vindhya region.
Her posts regularly attracted thousands of reactions from engaged followers, while some of her videos reached millions of viewers.
She gained wider recognition in 2024 when she won the Miss Pretty India title, an achievement that raised her profile significantly.
The win helped her reach new audiences as she sought to build a sustained career in both modelling and acting.
Local reports indicated that Nidhi had clear ambitions of entering the film industry and had been actively pursuing opportunities.
Her social media presence consistently reflected her deep interest in entertainment and fashion.
Nidhi’s family told local media that she had been speaking to someone on the phone before her death.
After that, she locked herself in her room. Relatives knocked on her door around 9 pm, at which point she told them to leave her alone.
The next morning, when she did not respond, the family alerted the police.
She was found hanging in her room by them, after which she was rushed to the hospital.
Her mother claims she was involved with a married engineer.
The family had asked her to distance herself from him after finding out he had a wife and kids.
However, the two continued to remain in contact, according to Nidhi’s mother.
Police have cautioned strongly against drawing any premature conclusions about what led to her death.
Investigators are examining her call records, digital activity and other available evidence as they work to establish the full picture.
Morwa police station in-charge Dr Gyanendra Singh confirmed that officers were gathering information from Nidhi’s family, acquaintances and others.
