the woman remained isolated from her husband.
An Indian groom discovered that his wife was a lesbian 11 days into being a married couple. The bizarre case happened in Begusarai, Bihar.
She had confessed to her new husband that she had been in a relationship with her female friend for two years.
The matter resulted in the police getting involved. The husband and his family tried to persuade the woman to go back to her husband but she refused, insisting that she wanted to be with her lover.
The unnamed woman from Ranchi, Jharkhand, was arranged to marry a young man. The wedding ended up taking place on June 14, 2020.
Following the marriage, the woman began living with her husband and in-laws.
Life as a married couple seemed normal for the first 10 days, however, suspicions began to arise as the woman remained isolated from her husband.
She would also spend hours talking on the phone to her girlfriend, unbeknown to her husband.
When the Indian groom confronted her on June 25, she told him about her lover, admitting that she was a lesbian and that she had been in a relationship with the woman for two years.
She then left the home to be with her lover.
However, later that day, the woman’s family forced her to return to her in-law’s home.
The woman went to her in-law’s house with her girlfriend. She explained that despite marrying a man, her lover supported her.
The man’s family tried to persuade the bride to continue with her marriage but both women did not accept it.
It was reported that the young woman stated that she did not want to get married and that her family forced her to do so.
As a result, the matter reached the police. Officers arrived at the house before taking both women to the police station for questioning.
At the station, the two lovers explained what had happened.
The family continued to ask the lovers to split up so that their son’s marriage could continue but they insisted that they wanted to be together.
Their refusal to end their relationship left the man and his family helpless.
On June 26, 2020, the matter was resolved. Station officer Amarendra Kumar Jha confirmed that a compromise was reached.
After receiving consent from the young man and woman, the same-sex couple left together while the marriage effectively ended.
