Indian Groom falls Asleep on Stage at his own Wedding

An Indian groom has been caught falling asleep on stage at his own wedding.

The amusing incident was captured on video, and the footage has since gone viral.

In the video, various wedding guests are seen attempting to wake the groom up, but to no avail.

Meanwhile, the bride is sitting next to her sleeping husband, looking mostly unphased.

The real reason for the groom’s fatigue could simply be exhaustion, due to the many ceremonies and arrangements that take place during Indian weddings.

However, many believe that the groom may have been drunk.

The viral video was posted on Instagram on June 13, 2021, by user Niranjan Mohapatra.

The video triggered a variety of responses, mainly from users amused by the groom’s inability to stay awake for his wedding.

Amongst a series of laughing emojis, one user commented:

“He is going to miss his wedding night.”

Another said: “Oh my days seriously.”

A third wrote: “He is preparing for the ceremony after.”

Other users were quick to point out how young the groom looks.

One said: “He looks like a child.”

Another commented: “He looks so young – like 14? 15?”

One user even criticised the groom’s new wife for her lack of reaction, saying:

“And his better half doesn’t seem to give a damn.”

Indian grooms are sometimes subjected to ridicule at their weddings.

In another bizarre incident, a video has emerged from a different wedding, where a groom’s mother is seen beating her son with slippers.

In the video, the couple are exchanging garlands on a rotating platform, before the groom’s mother gets up on the wedding stage.

She then takes off her slippers and begins to hit her son with them.

While guests try to prise her off the stage, she continues to attack her son. She even breaks one of the stage decorations in the process.

Eventually, the groom’s mother is pulled off the stage and she leaves the venue, allowing for the wedding to continue.

The video went viral on Twitter, with many users expressing their views on the incident.

One user said:

“Did she, the mother, not approve of the marriage? If so, why even show up? Wow, truly sad.”

Another wrote: “This is not the right way to punish your adult child in front of many guests in his most waited wedding ceremony. Too bad.”

Guests at the wedding were unsure of the reason for the woman’s rage. However, it was reportedly due to her son’s intercaste marriage.

The groom allegedly went against his family’s wishes and married a woman from another caste in a court ceremony.

Since then, they have been living as husband and wife.
