"I found out that my wife was sleeping with someone else."
An Indian executive committed suicide after recording a video about his marriage troubles.
Manav Sharma worked at a Mumbai-based firm but was found dead at his family home in Agra. Officers became aware of the incident after his video went viral on social media.
In the lengthy clip, Sharma claimed his wife was cheating on him.
He said: “Let me share my situation. It’s the same as many others… I found out that my wife was sleeping with someone else. But never mind, let it be.”
Sharma apologised to his parents and urged more awareness of men’s struggles:
“I don’t have a problem with dying. I want to go. Please think about men. I’m sorry, everyone. Everything will get better once I go. I have attempted suicide even before.”
Addressing the authorities, he added:
“This is for the authorities—police and law enforcement. The law needs to protect men, or else a time will come when there will be no men left. No man to take the blame anymore.”
A case has since been registered against Nikita Sharma and her family.
DCP (Agra city) Suraj Rai said: “The man died by suicide on Feb 24.
“We came to know about the incident from a video clip on social media.
“A case was registered under BNS section 108 (abetment of suicide) at Sadar police station in Agra following a complaint by his father, Narendra Sharma, against the daughter-in-law and her family on Friday.
“We’re probing the matter from all possible angles, and further action will be taken based on evidence.”
Manav Sharma and his wife had been married since January 2024.
In his complaint, Narendra Sharma said:
“After the first few days of the wedding, the woman (Manav’s wife) started making false accusations and expressed interest in living with her ‘boyfriend’.
“On Feb 23, 2025, Manav and his wife returned from Mumbai.
“Later, when he dropped her off at her maternal home, he was threatened by her family. The next morning, he took his own life.”
Meanwhile, Nikita Sharma denied the allegations and claimed her husband struggled with alcohol addiction.
Before getting married, she said she was in a relationship but when her husband found out, he struggled to cope.
Nikita Sharma alleged: “It was my past, before the marriage (the alleged affair)… Manav used to drink excessively and tried to kill himself earlier too.
“I saved him thrice. I’d informed my in-laws, but they ignored my pleas.”
She also claimed her husband would become violent after drinking.
Nikita Sharma also claimed she made desperate attempts to check on her husband one last time, repeatedly calling his family, but none of her calls were answered.
After his final rites, she claimed her in-laws cast her out and blamed her for the Indian executive’s death.
