"I can have a bit of a short fuse but I’m working on it."
Ibrahim Ali Khan has responded publicly for the first time since dividing opinion for his reaction to a negative review of his debut film Nadaaniyan.
The romantic comedy, directed by Shauna Gautam, opened to mixed and often harsh reviews.
One of the harshest came from Pakistani critic Tamur Iqbal, who criticised Ibrahim’s acting and mocked his “huge nose”.
The comments sparked an explosive direct message from Ibrahim.
The DM, shared by Tamur on Instagram, included a string of personal insults and even a veiled threat.
Ibrahim wrote: “Tamur almost like Taimoor… you got my brother’s name. Guess what you don’t got? His face. You ugly piece of trash.
“Since you can’t keep your words to yourself, don’t bother, they’re irrelevant just like you.
“Ugly goddamn piece of s**t I feel bad for you and your family and if I see you on the streets one day, I’ll make sure I leave you uglier than you are, you walking piece of scum.”
Tamur responded by posting the screenshot and writing:
“Hahahahaha see that’s my man. This is the guy I want to see in the movie. Not that fake cornetto mushy cringy human.
“But hey yes that nose job comment was in bad taste. Rest I totally own up.
“Massive fan of your dad, don’t let him down.”
Addressing his outburst, Ibrahim Ali Khan said:
“I know I shouldn’t have reacted but I’m also new to public scrutiny.
“When he made that personal comment about my body, it felt like a below-the-belt remark.
“But going forward, I’ll be more composed. I shouldn’t have reacted. It won’t happen again.”
The actor admitted he is still adjusting to fame and online criticism.
His role in Nadaaniyan marked a significant step into the public eye, but the pressure of comparisons and commentary appears to have taken a toll.
Ibrahim added that he is working on managing his temper:
“I’m a calm person… Just joking! I can have a bit of a short fuse but I’m working on it.
“It’s not like I randomly lose it, but yeah, if I’m in a bad mood or something, then maybe.”
